maltego-transform-test

maltego-transform-test is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from hexacron/claude-transformatron-9000. It costs 31 tokens per session (2,226 once invoked), scanned C, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for testing a local Maltego SDK transform server through Python checks and HTTP requests. It does not require the Maltego Desktop application.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to compile Python files, verify project imports, start the local server, check its health, inspect available transforms, and test transform responses.
Why use it?
It provides a direct way to catch import, server, discovery, and request-response problems during development.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00031 $0.02226
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.01113
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00445
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00223

Security

Grade C, and why

maltego-transform-test scanned grade C with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/sdk_project_check.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Maltego Transform Test Skill

Purpose

Test a local maltego-transforms SDK server without the Maltego Desktop client, pTDS, iTDS, or any internal infrastructure. All testing is done via direct HTTP calls and Python import checks.

Prerequisites

  • The SDK server must be running locally (start it with python project.py).
  • No external secrets or proprietary services are required for basic testing.

Step-by-Step: Test a Transform Server

1. Syntax and Import Check

Before running the server, verify the project is importable:

# Compile-check all Python files
python -m py_compile src/transforms/*.py

# Check the project entry point imports without starting the server
# (project.py only calls run_server() under __main__, so importing is safe)
python -c "import project; print('OK')"

If these fail, fix the syntax/import errors before proceeding.

2. Start the Server (if not already running)

# project.py calls run_server() under __main__
python project.py

Verify it started:

curl -s http://127.0.0.1:8080/health | python -m json.tool
# or just check for a 200 response
curl -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}" http://127.0.0.1:8080/api/v3/transforms

3. Check the Discovery Endpoint

curl -s http://127.0.0.1:8080/api/v3/transforms | python -m json.tool

Assert:

  • Response is a JSON array/object.
  • Each registered transform appears by name/ID.
  • Each transform has the expected input.type_ids.

4. Check the Entity Discovery Endpoint

curl -s http://127.0.0.1:8080/api/v3/assets/entities | python -m json.tool

Assert:

  • Response lists expected entity types.

5. Run a Transform via HTTP

curl -s -X POST http://127.0.0.1:8080/api/v3/transforms/<transform_id>/run \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"input": {"metadata": {"entitiesTypesStat": {"maltego.Domain": 1}, "entitiesTotalCount": 1, "linksTotalCount": 0, "rootEntitiesCount": 1}, "graph": {"entities": [{"id": "0", "valueRef": "fqdn", "type": "maltego.Domain", "properties": [{"name": "fqdn", "type": "STRING", "value": "example.com"}], "displayInformation": []}], "links": []}}, "transformSettings": [], "limit": 12}' \
  | python -m json.tool

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

maltego-transform-test is a skill published in the GitHub repository hexacron/claude-transformatron-9000 (0 stars, last pushed 21d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 31 tokens to every session and 2,226 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it C with 2 findings (downloads and executes remote code, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
