exploring-knowledge-graph

exploring-knowledge-graph is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from hinha/memoo-mcp. It costs 37 tokens per session (1,080 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A skill for exploring Memoo knowledge graphs, which store connected information about decisions, components, and architecture. It uses Memoo's MCP connection to search, follow links, and ask questions about that stored knowledge.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to trace how a decision changed, find what depends on a component, connect architectural patterns, or investigate why something was built a certain way.
Why use it?
It helps when the answer depends on relationships and history that are difficult to find by reading individual notes or files.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00037 $0.01080
Opus 5 $0.00018 $0.00540
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00216
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00108

Security

Grade A, and why

exploring-knowledge-graph scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Exploring the Knowledge Graph

Explore Memoo namespaces through Memoo MCP tools (Memoo REST API only).

When to Use

Deep graph exploration:

  • Tracing how a decision evolved over time
  • Understanding connections between components
  • Finding related architectural patterns
  • Investigating why something was built a certain way

Namespace context

Prefer a session default (UUID or name — gateway resolves via GET /api/v1/namespaces/{id} detail at boot):

export MEMOO_NAMESPACE="0b00322d-f6ed-45b7-a2e8-b7059f71de34"
# or MCP args: --memo-namespace <uuid|name>

If a default is already configured, omit namespace on tool calls and skip memoo_list_namespaces unless the user asks to switch/list other namespaces.

Exploration Strategy

Step 1: Find starting point

memoo_search / search:
  query: "authentication architecture"
  limit: 5

Step 2: Explore relationships

Use entity UUIDs from search hits:

memoo_graph_traverse:
  entity_uuid: "<uuid from search>"
  max_hops: 2

Optionally ask for a synthesized view:

memoo_ask:
query: "What depends on authentication and how?"
  use_reranker: true

Step 3: Get episode context

memoo_list_episodes:
  page: 1
  page_size: 20

fetch:
  id: "<episode_id>"

For a point-in-time slice:

memoo_temporal_query:
  query: "authentication"
  at_time: <unix_timestamp>
  limit: 10

Ingest (when asked to store knowledge)

  1. Summarize first (prefer ≤300 words). Hard max is plan entitlement episode_content_words (API-enforced).
  2. Call only memoo_create_episode via Memoo MCP — do not invent curl/REST bypasses.
  3. Create is always async: expect job_id immediately (no episode_id on create). Poll memoo_get_job_status until completed / failed (ingest itself can take minutes).
  4. On HTTP 413 / content too long → summarize further and retry.
  5. Prefer the session default namespace (name). Do not pass raw UUIDs in tool args unless the host has no default.
  6. If create fails, retry the MCP tool — do not shell out to the REST API or print API keys.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

exploring-knowledge-graph is a skill published in the GitHub repository hinha/memoo-mcp (0 stars, last pushed 27d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 37 tokens to every session and 1,080 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
