find-CNetChan_UpdateMessageStats

find-CNetChan_UpdateMessageStats is a skill for Claude Code from HLND2T/CS2_VibeSignatures. It costs 192 tokens per session (3,399 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A reverse-engineering procedure for finding the Counter-Strike 2 function CNetChan::UpdateMessageStats in a compiled program. It uses IDA Pro, a tool for inspecting compiled software, to recover the function's location and related details on Windows or Linux builds.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to locate UpdateMessageStats in CS2's networking library and produce its address, size, signature, and virtual-table slot for further analysis.
Why use it?
It provides a fallback when automated searches fail because compiler changes, moved strings, or reordered virtual-function tables make old signatures and offsets unreliable.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00192 $0.03399
Opus 5.5 $0.00077 $0.01360
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00038 $0.00680
Haiku 4.5 $0.00019 $0.00340

Security

Grade A, and why

find-CNetChan_UpdateMessageStats scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 20d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Find CNetChan_UpdateMessageStats (final-guarantee fallback)

Recover CNetChan::UpdateMessageStats in CS2 networksystem.dll / libnetworksystem.so using IDA Pro MCP tools.

This is the Agent fallback for the find-CNetChan_UpdateMessageStats chain. The chain emits the symbol from either the de-inlined path (find-CNetChan_UpdateMessageStats-noinline, taken when the compiler kept a standalone wrapper) or the inlined path (find-CNetChan_UpdateMessageStats-inlined, taken when the body was folded into the caller and only find-CNetChan_UpdateMessageStatsInternal produced the helper). Any of these can miss on a new build:

  • reuse the previous build's func_sig — breaks when the prologue is rewritten;
  • reuse the previous vfunc_sig / vtable slot — breaks when the CNetChan vtable is reordered;
  • reuse the "CNetChan::UpdateMessageStats, bit counter about to roll over ..." xref string — breaks when the single call site moves or the literal relocates.

Your job is to locate the function by semantic anchors that survive those changes, then emit the YAML.

Realworld Function References

Read the platform-relevant real-world YAMLs before searching in IDA. They provide concrete disassembly, decompiler output, and semantic anchors, and they document the neighbouring functions you must distinguish the target from. Treat their addresses and offsets as reference-build values only; verify every result against the current binary.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
