find-CSource2Server_Shutdown-decompiles

find-CSource2Server_Shutdown-decompiles is a skill for Claude Code from HLND2T/CS2_VibeSignatures. It costs 190 tokens per session (2,469 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A reverse-engineering fallback that uses IDA Pro to recover three shutdown functions from the Counter-Strike 2 server binary and return their concrete function signatures.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to decompile and identify the functions called directly by CSource2Server::Shutdown on Windows or Linux builds.
Why use it?
It provides a recovery path when the normal preprocessor cannot find those functions, while requiring the results to be checked against the current binary.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00190 $0.02469
Opus 5.5 $0.00076 $0.00988
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00038 $0.00494
Haiku 4.5 $0.00019 $0.00247

Security

Grade A, and why

find-CSource2Server_Shutdown-decompiles scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Find CSource2Server_Shutdown-decompiles (final-guarantee fallback)

Recover the three functions that CSource2Server::Shutdown calls directly, in CS2 server.dll / libserver.so, using IDA Pro MCP tools. This is the Agent fallback for the find-CSource2Server_Shutdown-decompiles preprocessor: it runs only when the preprocessor script returned failure. It reproduces the LLM_DECOMPILE step by hand — the three targets are ordinary direct calls made from one well-known caller, so no cross-version name mapping is actually required: the caller's call graph names them.

Every output is a concrete function (a func_sig), not a vcall. There is no vtable involved.

Realworld Function References

Read the platform-relevant reference YAML before searching in IDA. It provides the concrete disassembly of CSource2Server_Shutdown including the annotated call sites. Treat its addresses and offsets as reference-build values only; verify every result against the current binary.

  • Windows: ida_preprocessor_scripts/references/server/CSource2Server_Shutdown.windows.yaml
  • Linux: ida_preprocessor_scripts/references/server/CSource2Server_Shutdown.linux.yaml

Background — where the three teardown calls sit

CSource2Server_Shutdown is a short teardown routine. Its body is, in order:

  1. shut down the game-event manager (CGameEventManager_Shutdown, passing the gameeventmanager global);
  2. run a fixed sequence of four indirect calls through the same global object, each fetched as vtable slot [reg+50h] and each fed one freshly built argument (sub_* producers) — these are not our targets;
  3. a contiguous run of four direct calls: the first two are our targets (CLoopModeRegistry_UnregisterLoopModes, then CEngineServiceRegistry_UnregisterEngineServices), followed by ReleaseParticleEffects and ReleaseCSBotManager which are not targets;
  4. return through a tail jmp.

So the two requested functions in that run are its first two entries, sitting right after the four [reg+50h] indirect dispatches and right before ReleaseParticleEffects / ReleaseCSBotManager. That position — not the raw address — is the anchor, and it survives decompiler renames and address shifts across updates.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
