cyber-exercise

cyber-exercise is a skill for Codex from HoangNguyen0403/agent-skills-standard. It costs 36 tokens per session (924 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A bounded cybersecurity exercise workflow for planning and reviewing an authorized security exercise. It checks scope, approvals, tools, credentials, logging, cancellation controls, evidence, and independent decisions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to define exercise objectives and exclusions, prepare approved activities, run preflight checks, and record decisions and evidence.
Why use it?
It provides a safe offline path when live controls are unavailable and prevents an exercise from being mistaken for a compliance certification or permission to change systems.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00036 $0.00924
Opus 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00370
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00185
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00092

Security

Grade A, and why

cyber-exercise scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Cyber Exercise Skill

[!IMPORTANT] Run a bounded cybersecurity exercise workflow with authorization, runtime, control, evidence, and independent adjudication gates; supports safe offline planning and optional isolated lab validation.

Optional args: slug=, ticket=<id/url>, mode=interactive|autonomous|channel, channel=, auto_continue=true|false, profile=business|hybrid|technical.

Instructions

When the user asks to perform this workflow, execute the following steps:

Cyber Exercise

Goal: Coordinate an authorized, evidence-led exercise across analysis, replay, isolated lab validation, or defensive verification without conflating evidence or treating white-team control as host enforcement.

Steps

  1. Plan: Load cyber-engagement-planning; define objective, scope, exclusions, roles, synthetic-data boundary, evidence owner, expiry, stop, and restart terms.
  2. Authorize: Load cyber-authorization; bind engagement_scope_ref, approved actions, exclusions, window, approver, and runtime support.
  3. Preflight: Verify tool allowlists, filesystem/network boundaries, logging, and cancellation controls. If unsupported, mark active steps blocked and proceed with offline planning and analysis.
  4. Control: Load cyber-exercise-control; release injects, log decisions, enforce stop triggers (expiry, drift, unsafe impact), and require fresh gates before restart.
  5. Route and Validate: Select exactly one mode per step (analysis, replay, isolated-lab-validation, defensive-verification):
    • Analysis: Load cyber-scoped-validation; inspect supplied artifacts and code offline.
    • Replay: Load cyber-detection-validation; replay synthetic telemetry, reporting only pipeline stages actually exercised.
    • Isolated Lab Validation: Load cyber-lab-validation; validate bounded claims on disposable synthetic local fixtures with action-specific authorization and proven host isolation.
    • Defensive Verification: Load cyber-detection-validation under active effects gate.
  6. Isolate and Continue: Isolate blocked steps (blocked, stopped, failed). Mark dependent steps dependency-blocked with evidence-missing. Continue independent permitted tasks (remediation, reporting) without disguised retries or fabricated inputs.
  7. Adjudicate: Load cyber-exercise-adjudication; compare redacted evidence with independent ground truth. Classify findings (confirmed, suspected, blocked, not-tested, false-positive).
  8. Report: Load cyber-evidence; record per-step states, mode, fidelity limits, and findings. Update artifacts/security-review.md when in scope.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

cyber-exercise is a skill published in the GitHub repository HoangNguyen0403/agent-skills-standard (582 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 36 tokens to every session and 924 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-24.
