ui-design

ui-design is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from holger1411/astrodeck. It costs 31 tokens per session (648 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A user-interface design guide for creating or changing visible parts of a website or application. It covers layout, spacing, typography, colors, imagery, responsiveness, and performance checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing screens, components, spacing, fonts, colors, responsive layouts, image handling, or when checking Lighthouse performance.
Why use it?
It gives a consistent set of visual rules and measurable checks for interface changes. This helps prevent uneven layouts, poor mobile behavior, accessibility issues with images, and slow pages.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00031 $0.00648
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00324
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00130
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00065

Security

Grade A, and why

ui-design scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Design Consistency Checklist

  • Heading hierarchy maintained (h1 → h2 → h3, no skipping)
  • Consistent section paddings (py-20 px-6)
  • Colors only via CSS variables (text-primary, not text-blue-500)
  • Consistent border radius (rounded-xl)
  • Mobile-first responsive (all breakpoints checked: 375px, 768px, 1024px, 1280px)
  • Mobile navigation present (no hidden lg:block without mobile alternative)
  • No horizontal overflow on mobile
  • Dark mode tested

Non-Negotiable

These rules always apply — even under time pressure, even for "just a quick prototype":

  • No commit without responsive check. "We'll make it responsive later" never works — it gets forgotten and users see a broken mobile version.
  • Section padding is py-20 px-6. "A bit more room with py-32" destroys visual consistency across sections.
  • Colors only via CSS variables. "Just bg-white here" breaks dark mode immediately — without anyone noticing until they toggle.
  • No rounded-lg or rounded-md. The design system uses rounded-xl. Inconsistency is noticeable, even if individual deviations "look better."
  • Mobile-first is mandatory. Desktop-first "and then adjust" produces overflow, undersized touch targets, and missing mobile navigation.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
