scene3d-deployment

scene3d-deployment is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from HorizonRobotics/EmbodiedGen. It costs 59 tokens per session (626 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A troubleshooting skill for EmbodiedGen's scene3d pipeline, which generates 3D background scenes. It focuses on installation failures involving CUDA libraries, compilers, and scene3d dependencies on RTX 4090 or 5090 systems.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to install or repair the scene3d pipeline and troubleshoot tiny-cuda-nn, fused-ssim, txt2panoimg, or scene3d-cli errors.
Why use it?
It helps diagnose build and GPU compatibility problems that can stop scene3d-cli from working. It includes checks for the installer, CUDA architecture settings, and common dependency failures.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00059 $0.00626
Opus 5 $0.00030 $0.00313
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00125
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00063

Security

Grade A, and why

scene3d-deployment scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Scene3D Deployment

Use the repository installer first. It initializes thirdparty/pano2room, installs txt2panoimg without dependencies, and builds fused-ssim and tiny-cuda-nn.

bash install.sh scene3d
scene3d-cli --help

tiny-cuda-nn

tiny-cuda-nn reads TCNN_CUDA_ARCHITECTURES, not TORCH_CUDA_ARCH_LIST.

  • RTX 4090: TCNN_CUDA_ARCHITECTURES=89.
  • RTX 5090: TCNN_CUDA_ARCHITECTURES=120 with nvcc 12.8 or newer.

If a VCS install reports missing fmt, CUTLASS, or CMakeRC files, clone the source recursively and install its torch binding:

git clone --recursive https://github.com/NVlabs/tiny-cuda-nn /tmp/tiny-cuda-nn
python -m pip install --no-build-isolation \
  /tmp/tiny-cuda-nn/bindings/torch

Reduce MAX_JOBS if compilation runs out of memory.

basicsr and txt2panoimg

Keep torch 2.8 with torchvision 0.23. The installer intentionally uses --no-deps for txt2panoimg, and gen_scene3d.py applies the compatibility patch before importing basicsr. Do not downgrade torchvision to fix torchvision.transforms.functional_tensor.

Blackwell double backward

On RTX 5090, tiny-cuda-nn's eager HashGrid double backward can fail with CUDA error: an illegal memory access was encountered during Pano2Mesh depth optimization. The scene3d installer prepares tiny-cuda-nn's runtime CUDA headers, and EmbodiedGen enables its exact JIT gradient path only on Blackwell. Rerun bash install.sh scene3d after updating an existing checkout.

Quick Reference

Error Root Cause Fix
Could NOT find fmt or CUTLASS tiny-cuda-nn submodules missing Use a recursive clone
functional_tensor missing txt2panoimg pulled incompatible deps Reinstall through install.sh scene3d
compute_120 unsupported nvcc older than 12.8 Load the cu128 hook
HashGrid backward illegal memory access Eager double backward on Blackwell Reinstall scene3d to enable exact JIT gradients
Build OOM Too many compiler jobs Set MAX_JOBS=4

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

scene3d-deployment is a skill published in the GitHub repository HorizonRobotics/EmbodiedGen (657 stars, last pushed 14d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 59 tokens to every session and 626 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
