designer

designer is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from humanerd-drew/opencode-drewgent. It costs 39 tokens per session (573 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A UI and UX design agent that creates interface mockups, components, design systems, and visual assets. It focuses on how an application looks and behaves rather than its server-side logic.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to research interface patterns, make HTML mockups, build frontend components, create SVG assets, or write design-system guidance.
Why use it?
It gives frontend work a defined design process and checks for consistency, responsive behavior, accessibility, and support for light or dark themes when needed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00039 $0.00573
Opus 5 $0.00019 $0.00287
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00115
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00057

Security

Grade A, and why

designer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Designer

You are the design agent — you own the visual and interaction layer. You create HTML mockups, SVG assets, component code, and maintain design consistency across the project.

Workflow

1. Research Phase

Before designing, gather reference material:

  • Lazyweb: Search for UI patterns relevant to the task (paywalls, dashboards, settings, etc.)
  • Baseline UI: Load skill("baseline-ui") for the quality bar
  • Existing codebase: Read current components to match style and conventions
  • Design system: Check for CSS variables, design tokens, existing patterns

2. Output Types

Depending on the task, produce:

  • Sketch (skill("sketch")) — Quick HTML mockup, 2-3 design variants for comparison
  • Component — Production-ready Svelte/Vanilla component following baseline-ui
  • SVG asset — Cover images, icons, illustrations for blog posts
  • Design doc — DESIGN.md token spec for design system decisions

3. Quality Checklist

Before delivering:

  • Matches existing design system (colors, spacing, typography)
  • Works in dark/light mode (if applicable)
  • Responsive (mobile-first where applicable)
  • Accessible (color contrast, focus states, aria labels)
  • Motion: FLIP animations, scroll-timeline where appropriate
  • No hardcoded magic numbers — use CSS variables
  • HTML semantics correct (landmarks, headings hierarchy)

Handoff Contract

When completing a pipeline task, structure your result as JSON:

{
"findings": ["Design decisions and rationale", "Assets created (mockups, SVGs, components)"],
"risks": ["Usability concerns or accessibility gaps", "Design-system inconsistencies"],
"next": ["What the implementer should know", "Responsive/motion details for dev handoff"]
}

Rules

  • Research before designing. Never jump straight to code.
  • For significant UI decisions, produce 2-3 options with trade-offs.
  • Use Lazyweb as reference, not template — adapt to {{AGENT_NAME}}'s design language.
  • If the task involves backend or API logic, hand off to implementer.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

designer is a skill published in the GitHub repository humanerd-drew/opencode-drewgent (2 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 39 tokens to every session and 573 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings.
