peft-fine-tuning

peft-fine-tuning is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from humanerd-drew/opencode-drewgent. It costs 82 tokens per session (3,576 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of peft, MIT.

A guidance package for parameter-efficient fine-tuning, a way to adapt a large language model by training small adapter layers instead of all of its parameters. It covers methods such as LoRA and QLoRA in the Hugging Face ecosystem.

In plain words
What is it for?
Configure and implement LoRA, QLoRA, and other adapter-based fine-tuning workflows, including multi-adapter serving.
Why use it?
It helps reduce the GPU memory and computing resources needed to adapt language models, especially when several model variants are needed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00082 $0.03576
Opus 5 $0.00041 $0.01788
Sonnet 5 $0.00016 $0.00715
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00358

Security

Grade A, and why

peft-fine-tuning scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

PEFT (Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning)

Fine-tune LLMs by training <1% of parameters using LoRA, QLoRA, and 25+ adapter methods.

When to use PEFT

Use PEFT/LoRA when:

  • Fine-tuning 7B-70B models on consumer GPUs (RTX 4090, A100)
  • Need to train <1% parameters (6MB adapters vs 14GB full model)
  • Want fast iteration with multiple task-specific adapters
  • Deploying multiple fine-tuned variants from one base model

Use QLoRA (PEFT + quantization) when:

  • Fine-tuning 70B models on single 24GB GPU
  • Memory is the primary constraint
  • Can accept ~5% quality trade-off vs full fine-tuning

Use full fine-tuning instead when:

  • Training small models (<1B parameters)
  • Need maximum quality and have compute budget
  • Significant domain shift requires updating all weights

Installation

pip install peft

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
