sr:brainstorm

sr:brainstorm is a skill for Claude Code from huuanh20/awesome-ai-agent-skills. It costs 52 tokens per session (1,201 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guided brainstorming workflow for understanding a software project before writing its requirements specification. It asks about users, features, scope, technology limits, and business rules in several rounds.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when starting a project from an idea or topic and you need structured input before writing the specification.
Why use it?
It helps uncover missing decisions early, before they cause gaps or misunderstandings in the project documentation.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00052 $0.01201
Opus 5 $0.00026 $0.00600
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00240
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00120

Security

Grade A, and why

sr:brainstorm scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 196 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

sr:brainstorm

Goal: fully understand the project before a single word of spec is written. Do NOT write spec, plan, or SRS in this session.

Step 0 — Topic Intake

Receive topic from user. Do NOT ask questions yet.

Identify:

  • Domain (e-commerce | healthcare | fintech | SaaS | internal tool | mobile | other)
  • Scale signals (MVP | startup | enterprise | unknown)
  • Any constraints already mentioned

Echo back:

Topic:   {topic}
Domain:  {domain}
Scale:   {scale}
Slug:    {kebab-case name for projects/{slug}/}

Confirm slug with user before proceeding. If topic is too vague to form a slug, ask.

Step 1 — Load Domain Questions

Load .claude/skills/srs-workflow/references/brainstorm-guide.md. Select the question bank matching the detected domain.

Step 2 — Round 1: Actors & Users

Use AskUserQuestion with concrete role options (not open-ended).

Ask about:

  • Primary end users (with examples from the domain)
  • Secondary users / supporting roles
  • Admin / back-office roles
  • External systems / third-party integrations

Wait for answer. Record each confirmed actor as:

[ACTOR] {name}: {description} | access level: {read/write/admin}

Step 3 — Round 2: Core Features

Use AskUserQuestion. Present a feature checklist derived from domain + topic.

For each feature cluster offer sub-options. Example for e-commerce:

  • Authentication: (A) email+password (B) OAuth (C) both (D) SSO enterprise
  • Catalogue: (A) simple products (B) configurable SKUs (C) bundles (D) subscriptions

Mark each selection as [CONFIRMED]. Infer likely missing features — ask to confirm or reject.

Wait for answer.

Step 4 — Round 3: Scope Boundary

Use AskUserQuestion. Present two-column table:

IN Scope (proposed) OUT Scope (proposed)
{feature A} {feature X}

Ask user to move items between columns or add new ones.

HARD BLOCK: Do not proceed without explicit in/out boundary confirmed by user.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

sr:brainstorm is a skill published in the GitHub repository huuanh20/awesome-ai-agent-skills (1 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 52 tokens to every session and 1,201 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
