deslop

deslop is a skill for Claude Code from hyperb1iss/hyperskills. It costs 89 tokens per session (2,142 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A writing and editing guide for removing signs that text was produced by an AI. It covers documents, messages, release notes, pull requests, and other prose.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it before sharing documentation, README files, blog posts, specifications, commit messages, or other text with people.
Why use it?
It helps make technical writing sound more natural and suited to its audience instead of formulaic or machine-written.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00089 $0.02142
Opus 5 $0.00044 $0.01071
Sonnet 5 $0.00018 $0.00428
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00214

Measured 2d ago against content hash 8ee7a7b8aa0a, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

deslop scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/selftest.sh), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 144 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Deslop

Remove formulaic writing that obscures meaning or flattens the author's voice. Name the reader's problem before editing: an unsupported claim, a repeated conclusion, an unclear actor, or a sentence that needs rereading. A recognizable word or construction alone is not a defect.

Preserve meaning first. Keep facts, qualifications, attribution, and the author's stance. Improve clarity within the requested scope. Never invent measurements, mechanisms, anecdotes, or confidence to make a vague sentence sound specific. NO_EDITS is a successful result when the draft already works.

Surface first

The user, publication, and project contract set the register. An artifact's authority skill decides its structure; this skill supplies prose diagnostics.

Surface Authority and preservation
PR body, PR comment reply super-good-pr; preserve semantic emoji, reviewer guidance, receipts, and human-authored choices
PR review report hyper-pr-review; preserve severity and finding structure
Commit body Repository commit rules; plain text and required trailers
Spec, plan, research report Preserve decisions, alternatives that matter, uncertainty, citations, and requirements
README, docs, guides Explain the actual system; preserve commands, examples, signatures, and error strings
Changelog, release notes Narrating the change is the purpose; keep versions and migration consequences
Slack, email Match the sender; preserve signatures and thread links
Blog, essay, fiction Match the author; creative invention is allowed only within the creative brief
Scientific, legal, medical, postmortem Preserve calibrated uncertainty and approved language
Marketing Follow the brief; persuasion does not authorize invented claims
Agent brief, skill, memory Keep useful tables and terminology; clarity and factual checks still apply
Interactive chat Skip a separate pass; follow the project register

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
