kc-journey-map

kc-journey-map is a skill for Claude Code from iamcxa/kc-claude-plugins. It costs 143 tokens per session (1,487 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for drawing or checking a user journey against what a codebase actually does. A user journey maps the steps a person takes while using a product.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create journey maps from routes and commands, or compare an existing map with the code and record mismatches.
Why use it?
It helps expose gaps between a planned experience and the behaviour the software really supports.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00143 $0.01487
Opus 5 $0.00072 $0.00744
Sonnet 5 $0.00029 $0.00297
Haiku 4.5 $0.00014 $0.00149

Security

Grade A, and why

kc-journey-map scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Journey Map

Draw a journey from the code, or check a journey against the code. Same core either way: establish the steps, find the evidence for each one, render three lanes plus a status card.

The board's value is not the picture. It is that each column forces three answers next to each other — what a person does, what the system does, what must stay true — so a step that nobody can actually perform cannot hide behind a nicely drawn arrow.

Read references/cell-contract.md before filling any cell. It is the rule set the output is judged against.

Two modes

Mode Trigger Output
draw no journey exists yet the board, derived from code
check a journey exists — board, screenshot, or a list of cards the mismatch table first, then the corrected board

In check mode the mismatches are the deliverable. Do not quietly redraw someone's board into the "right" answer: quote their card, state the code fact, name the verdict.

Process

1. Establish the spine. Check mode: take the steps as given, in the user's own words. Draw mode: derive them from entry points — routes, CLI subcommands, published clients — not from documentation. Documentation describes intent; the spine must describe reachability.

2. Find the evidence, one column at a time. For each step, locate the handler, the route registration, and the durable write. Record file:line as you go. Three questions decide the column:

  • Can a person reach this step today? If not, the column is badged NOT BUILT.
  • What does the system durably do here — which key, which write mode?
  • What would break if a future change ignored this step's rule?

A step whose handler exists but has no route is NOT BUILT. Code that only tests can call is not a journey step.

3. Check the trunk, not just the branch. State plainly which ref was measured. Work living only in open PRs, worktrees, or a stack is not the current system, and the status card must say so.

4. Build the grid, per references/cell-contract.md.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

kc-journey-map is a skill published in the GitHub repository iamcxa/kc-claude-plugins (3 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 143 tokens to every session and 1,487 once invoked, about $0.0007 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
