skill-motion-design-principles

skill-motion-design-principles is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from IAPro-Community/Orquestrador-Maestro. It costs 38 tokens per session (777 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of principles for deciding when interface animation should exist and how it should communicate changes, relationships, feedback and focus.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for designing and reviewing transitions, loading changes, state feedback and other motion in user interfaces.
Why use it?
It helps remove decorative motion that distracts users and review timing, interruption, reduced-motion behavior and performance risks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00038 $0.00777
Opus 5.5 $0.00015 $0.00311
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00155
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00078

Security

Grade A, and why

skill-motion-design-principles scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 17d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Motion Design Principles

Use when animation or transition quality is itself part of the task. This skill decides whether motion should exist, what it communicates, and how it should behave.

Motion Has A Job

Every motion must do at least one of these:

  • explain spatial relationship;
  • preserve continuity;
  • communicate state change;
  • direct attention;
  • confirm input;
  • reveal hierarchy progressively;
  • make causality understandable.

If it does none of them, remove it.

Review Model

For every animation define:

  • trigger;
  • user/system cause;
  • element ownership;
  • start and end states;
  • duration;
  • easing;
  • delay/stagger;
  • interruption/cancellation behavior;
  • repeated-trigger behavior;
  • reduced-motion fallback;
  • performance risk.

Motion Posture

Choose the motion posture from product context before tuning individual animations:

  • Restraint-first: productivity tools, admin surfaces, repeated controls and high-frequency actions. Prefer instant state change or very short transitions; animation must earn its cost.
  • Production polish: default for consumer/product UI. Preserve continuity and hierarchy with subtle, consistent motion that does not call attention to itself.
  • Expressive: low-frequency brand moments, onboarding, marketing or playful experiences where motion is part of the product character. Keep interaction clarity and interruption behavior intact.

Frequency is a gate: the more often an interaction is triggered, the stronger the case for shorter or no animation. Do not apply expressive motion rules to repetitive operational UI.

Timing

  • Immediate feedback should feel immediate.
  • Small local transitions should normally be shorter than navigation or large spatial transitions.
  • Staggers must clarify order, not make users wait.
  • Avoid chaining decorative entrances across an entire dashboard.
  • Keep duration consistent by semantic role rather than assigning arbitrary values component by component.

Easing

Use easing to represent physical/interaction intent:

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

skill-motion-design-principles is a skill published in the GitHub repository IAPro-Community/Orquestrador-Maestro (58 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 38 tokens to every session and 777 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-30.
