standalone-script

standalone-script is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from iris-hep/marketplace. It costs 65 tokens per session (367 once invoked), scanned A, original, BSD-3-Clause.

A guide for creating single-file Python command-line scripts with their dependencies declared inside the file. The scripts are designed to run directly with uv, a Python tool for running projects and scripts.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to build executable Python utilities with command-line options, inline dependency metadata, Typer-based commands, and instructions for running them with uv.
Why use it?
It gives one-off automation scripts a consistent structure without requiring a full software project or package layout.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00065 $0.00367
Opus 5 $0.00032 $0.00183
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00073
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00037

Measured 4d ago against content hash 5561cce1899a, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

standalone-script scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (assets/pep723_typer_script.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Standalone Script

Overview

Create a single-file Python script that runs via uv run --script, declares dependencies in a PEP 723 block, and uses Typer for a future-proof CLI.

Workflow

  1. Gather requirements: script purpose, inputs/outputs, dependencies, and any file paths.
  2. Start from assets/pep723_typer_script.py and copy it into the target script.
  3. Update the PEP 723 block:
    • Keep requires-python = ">=3.13" as the default.
    • List all dependencies, always include typer.
  4. Implement the logic inside the Typer command(s) and keep it single-file.
  5. Ensure the shebang is the very first line: #!/usr/bin/env -S uv run --script.
  6. Update the Typer command help string to describe what the script does.
  7. Mark the script executable after writing it (e.g., chmod +x <script>).
  8. Provide run instructions (uv run --script script.py).

Requirements

  • Always use Typer even if no arguments are currently needed.
  • Do not create a package layout or pyproject; keep everything in one script.
  • Keep the file ASCII unless the user explicitly needs Unicode.
  • Prefer small helper functions over complex classes unless necessary.

Assets

Use assets/pep723_typer_script.py as the starting template for new scripts.

Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

standalone-script is a skill published in the GitHub repository iris-hep/marketplace (4 stars, last pushed 28d ago), licensed BSD-3-Clause. It adds 65 tokens to every session and 367 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
