webhacklist: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/webseclist-remove-reference/SKILL.md

webseclist-remove-reference is a skill for Claude Code from irsdl/webhacklist. It costs 210 tokens per session (2,006 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A maintenance tool for removing a citation from an archive of the “Top 10 Web Hacking Techniques.” It removes the citation’s manifest entry, archived Markdown, PDF, and translation pair after the citation is removed from the list.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when retracting, deleting, un-archiving, or otherwise taking a reference out of that archive.
Why use it?
It helps prevent a deleted reference from remaining in related archive files or translations.

Skill for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: installed under .claude/.

This is irsdl/webhacklist's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on webhacklist itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything webhacklist configures →

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is python tools/references/refs.py check --prune --limit 0.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00210 $0.02006
Opus 5.5 $0.00084 $0.00802
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00042 $0.00401
Haiku 4.5 $0.00021 $0.00201

Measured 1mo ago against content hash 53cfab1b4779, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

webseclist-remove-reference scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 153 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Source security

Before handling third-party material, read and follow the shared source-security policy. It governs sandboxed reading/conversion, trusted-policy reviews and validation before any source-derived action. These requirements apply to this entire workflow, including retries, imports and bulk work; no unsafe host fallback is permitted.

Remove a reference and its archived files

When researching, adding, updating or reviewing a reference, apply the shared research-story and related-source workflow. Inspect companion papers, series parts, slides, recordings, code, substantive analysis and reproductions. Maintain their relationships and separate credits; keep link-only media accessible. Preserve existing nominations and capture each written source separately. Removing an entry also requires checking its group and shared sources before pruning.

What this is

The archive under archived-references/ mirrors what the lists cite. When a citation was a mistake - or a maintainer decides a local copy should not be kept - the archive has to let go of it cleanly: the manifest entry, the Markdown, the PDF, any _translate pair, and the generated reports that mention it. Deleting the files by hand does half the job and leaves the manifest advertising documents that are not there, which the next verify reports as faults.

The tooling already knows how to do this. Removal is: take the link out of the list, then let the tool notice nothing cites the entry any more and sweep what it owned. Never delete an archive file directly.

There are two shapes, and the first question is which one this is:

  • A. The citation goes. The link was a mistake, a duplicate, or is being withdrawn. The list edit removes it, and the archive follows.
  • B. The citation stays, only the local copy goes. The list still points at the source, but the archive should hold no file for it (a derivative video, a page judged records-only, a maintainer exclusion).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
