video-router

video-router is a skill for Claude Code from ishandutta2007/Awesome-Agent-Skills. It costs 49 tokens per session (1,227 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A planning guide for choosing how a video should be made: with generated media, fixed programmatic scenes, supplied footage, or a combination. It classifies the brief before production begins.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when a request involves creating, animating, editing, repurposing, or completing a video, especially when generated scenes and existing footage are combined.
Why use it?
It prevents the production method from changing partway through a job or conflicting with the supplied media and delivery requirements. It also clarifies whether the user wants a plan or finished media.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00049 $0.01227
Opus 5 $0.00024 $0.00613
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00245
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00123

Security

Grade A, and why

video-router scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Video Router

Overview

Choose the dominant video-production line before work starts. A clear route prevents an agent from silently switching methods, discarding source-media constraints, or producing assets that cannot be assembled into the requested deliverable.

When to Use

Use this skill when:

  • A user asks to create, animate, edit, repurpose, or finish a video.
  • A brief combines supplied footage with generated or designed scenes.
  • The production approach is ambiguous and must be stated before execution.
  • A production runtime is unavailable but the user still needs a complete plan.

Do not use this skill to author a composition, generate media, edit footage, or render output. Route first, then continue with the tool or skill that owns the selected line.

Process

1. Read the delivery constraints

Identify the topic, duration, language, aspect ratio, supplied media, required output, and whether the user expects planned or produced media. Treat supplied media as a constraint: classify its relationship to the result as reproduce, edit, or guide.

2. Choose the dominant axis

  • Generate (A) — AI-generated footage or imagery. Choose this for cinematic scenes, photoreal shots, characters, or b-roll that does not already exist.
  • Compose (B) — Deterministic HTML composition. Choose this for explainers, kinetic typography, motion graphics, data visualization, title cards, captions, overlays, and transitions. This is the default for designed animation.
  • Edit (C) — Work on supplied footage. Choose this for cuts, highlights, reframing, captions, audio cleanup, repurposing, or bounded semantic changes to existing video.

Use these primary signals:

Brief signal Primary route
Explain, teach, animate, motion graphics, kinetic text Compose (B)
Make footage of, cinematic scene, character doing something Generate (A)
Cut, trim, clip, repurpose, highlight, change my video Edit (C)

Aspect ratio sets the initial canvas: 16:9 uses 1920x1080, 9:16 uses 1080x1920, and 1:1 uses 1080x1080 unless the user specifies another target.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
