ost-intake

ost-intake is a skill for Codex from itseffi/agentic-os. It costs 16 tokens per session (246 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A process for collecting and standardising the information needed for an Opportunity Solution Tree (OST), a map linking a desired outcome to possible problems and solutions. It checks that the inputs are complete before the tree is created.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to gather goals, evidence, customer problems, and other inputs before building or reviewing an OST.
Why use it?
It prevents missing, inconsistent, or poorly formatted information from weakening the later analysis. Teams start with a clearer shared view of the opportunity.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00016 $0.00246
Opus 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00098
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00003 $0.00049
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00025

Security

Grade A, and why

ost-intake scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

OST Intake

Collect high-quality, normalized inputs for OST work.

Instructions

Step 1: Parse existing context first

  • Use provided context before asking questions.

Step 2: Collect four required fields

  • business_outcome
  • journey_nodes_as_list (JSON array of moments)
  • interview_transcripts_or_story_snippets
  • constraints_or_principles (or None stated)

Step 3: Normalize quality

  • Reframe solution-flavored outcomes into measurable outcomes.
  • Reframe feature-like nodes into moments in time.
  • Add minimal attribution to transcript snippets when possible.

Step 4: Ask only missing critical questions

  • Ask concise questions only for missing required inputs.
  • Stop when all four fields are complete and clear.

Output

  • Final normalized values for all four required fields.

When to Use

Use this skill when the task directly matches the workflow described above.

When Not to Use

Do not use this skill when the request is unrelated, low-stakes, or better handled by a simpler direct response.

Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
