value-chain-mapping

value-chain-mapping is a skill for Codex from itseffi/agentic-os. It costs 24 tokens per session (208 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A method for tracing how an organisation turns user needs into delivered value, from start to finish. It identifies the parts that create the most value and the points that may be vulnerable.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to analyse an end-to-end service or product process, identify its main value generators, and find weak points.
Why use it?
It helps show where value is produced and where delays, failures, or dependencies could weaken the result. This makes broad business processes easier to examine.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00024 $0.00208
Opus 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00083
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00005 $0.00042
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00021

Security

Grade A, and why

value-chain-mapping scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Value Chain Mapping

Map value creation from user needs to foundational inputs.

Instructions

Step 1: Capture end-user needs

  • List primary user needs the product serves.

Step 2: Build value chain hierarchy

  • Trace from needs -> activities -> enablers -> foundational inputs.

Step 3: Identify core value generators

  • Mark nodes that generate defensible advantage.
  • Explain why each is hard to replicate.

Step 4: Assess vulnerabilities

  • Highlight disruption points and fragility in chain links.

Output

  • End-user needs
  • Value chain breakdown
  • Core value generators
  • Potential vulnerabilities

When to Use

Use this skill when the task directly matches the workflow described above.

When Not to Use

Do not use this skill when the request is unrelated, low-stakes, or better handled by a simpler direct response.

Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

It adds 24 tokens to every session and 208 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
