Caption and publish a post

A write workflow. Nothing is published until the user has seen the preview and explicitly confirmed it.

Inputs

• Brief: what the post is about - subject, tone, call to action and the media URL(s). If the brief has no media URL, ask for one before going further.
• Format: image (one image, the default), carousel (2-10 images) or reel (one video).
• Account: a configured account profile name. When the user names one, pass account: "<name>" in every tool call; otherwise omit account and the default profile is used.

Media URLs must be public HTTPS URLs Instagram can fetch: JPEG for images, a video file for a reel. Instagram checks format, size and dimensions when it fetches the file, not before.

Steps

1. Draft a caption from the brief: at most 2200 characters, at most 30 hashtags and at most 20 @mentions. Show it to the user and revise until they approve it. For images, also draft one alt text per image (at most 1000 characters each) and get it approved with the caption.

2. Call instagram_get_publishing_limit. If remaining is 0, stop and tell the user the publishing quota is used up for now. A carousel counts as one post.

3. Build the preview call:

   • image: call instagram_post_image with imageUrls (one URL), altTexts (one entry), the approved caption and apply: false;
   • carousel: call instagram_post_image with imageUrls (2-10 URLs), altTexts (one entry per URL, same order), the approved caption and apply: false;
   • reel: call instagram_post_reel with videoUrl, the approved caption and apply: false.

   Show the user the preview it returns.

4. Only after the user explicitly confirms that exact post, call the same tool again with the same arguments and apply: true.

5. Read the result:

   • status: "published": report the media_id of the new post;
   • status: "already_published": the container was published by an earlier call; do not publish again, and tell the user the post already exists;
   • status: "in_progress": Instagram is still processing the media. The result carries a resume_container_id. Wait a little, then call the same tool with resumeContainerId set to it and apply: true. Never start a new post instead: that would publish it twice.
   • an error: report it as the tool gives it and do not retry blindly.
