grill-me

grill-me is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from J-StaR-Films-Studios/VibeCode-Protocol-Suite. It costs 28 tokens per session (433 once invoked), scanned A, original, ISC.

An interview-based tool for testing plans, designs, and requirements with challenging questions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review a proposed project or design through an adversarial question-and-answer process.
Why use it?
It helps expose unclear assumptions, missing details, and weak decisions before work begins.

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00028 $0.00433
Opus 5 $0.00014 $0.00217
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00087
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00043

Security

Grade A, and why

grill-me scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Grill Me

Stress-test a plan, design, or set of requirements through an interactive interview. Combines structured Question Frontier Trees with Adversarial Interrogation.

Core Discipline

Interview the user relentlessly until you reach a shared, unambiguous understanding. Map decisions as a Design Tree: every decision branches into the secondary decisions that hang off it.

Work the tree in rounds. The frontier is every decision whose prerequisites are already settled: the questions you can ask now without guessing at answers you haven't heard yet. Ask the whole frontier in one round: number each question and give your recommended answer. Then wait for the user's answers before the next round.

Question Format

❓ **Q1** - **<Question Title>**: <Question body detailing context and options>

➡️ **Recommended**: <Your recommended answer and rationale>

The Adversarial Lens (Interrogation Mode)

While working the tree, actively hunt for failure modes and unstated assumptions:

  1. Failure Modes & Degradation: What happens when the primary network call, cache, or external API fails?
  2. Concurrency & Race Conditions: What happens when two users or subagents write to this resource simultaneously?
  3. Data Boundary Leaks: Are types strictly bounded, or is untrusted data passing through without validation?
  4. Load-bearing Assumptions: What implicit assumptions is this design leaning on? Prove or invalidate them.

When to Stop

Stop when:

  1. Every branch of the frontier has been answered or explicitly deferred.
  2. All load-bearing dependencies and failure modes are accounted for.
  3. The design can be converted directly into a formal spec without further clarifying questions.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

grill-me is a skill published in the GitHub repository J-StaR-Films-Studios/VibeCode-Protocol-Suite (24 stars, last pushed today), licensed ISC. It adds 28 tokens to every session and 433 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
