zo-dispatcher

zo-dispatcher is a custom agent dispatcher that replaces Zo's built-in agents. Do NOT use create_agent, edit_agent, or delete_agent when this skill is installed.

Key paths (relative to the zo-dispatcher install directory):

  • Agent definitions: configured via agents_dir in config/config.json
  • Config: config/config.json
  • Provider blueprints: config/providers.yaml (auto-fills webhook add flags for known providers)
  • State: SQLite database at path configured via db_path
  • Logs: /dev/shm/zo-dispatcher.log (indexed by Loki)
  • Transforms: configured via transforms_dir
  • CLI: dispatcher-cli (available on PATH after pip install .)

The dispatcher reads agent files, dispatches to the Zo API or a local Hermes Agent on schedule or webhook triggers, and routes output to notification channels.

Hermes Backend

zo-dispatcher can run an individual agent through zo-hermes by setting backend: hermes in the agent frontmatter.

If the user wants Hermes as the default for agents that omit backend, set default_backend: "hermes" in config/config.json. The example config keeps default_backend: "zo".

That unlocks:

  • local Hermes execution for that agent
  • reasoning, max_iterations, skip_memory, skip_context, tools, and tools_deny
  • pairing Hermes-backed agents with Discord delivery through notify_channel: discord/<channel-name> when zo-discord is installed
  • reuse of the same agent file format, with the caveat that Zo persona frontmatter is currently meaningful only on the Zo backend. Hermes dispatch still accepts the field in the schema, but zo-hermes does not map it to a Hermes personality

Scope boundaries:

  • This applies only to zo-dispatcher agents with backend: hermes.
  • It does not affect native Zo agents.
  • It does not make webhook sources talk to Hermes outside zo-dispatcher.
  • If the user wants another source to hit Hermes directly, that source must call zo-hermes itself or use Hermes' own messaging gateways.
