moxie-docs

moxie-docs is a skill for Claude Code from Jackalope-Dev/Moxie-Docs-MCP. It costs 67 tokens per session (886 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A documentation service that indexes a GitHub repository and provides its conventions, architecture notes, documentation gaps, and team context to an AI agent. It also checks which documentation may be affected by code changes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it before changing code to read repository guidance, assess documentation impact, and propose documentation updates for the same change.
Why use it?
It reduces the risk of editing code without knowing the repository's current practices or leaving its documentation out of date.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00067 $0.00886
Opus 5 $0.00034 $0.00443
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00177
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00089

Security

Grade A, and why

moxie-docs scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Moxie Docs MCP

Moxie Docs indexes a GitHub repository and exposes its generated documentation, discovered conventions, documentation gaps, and AI context through a remote MCP server. Use it to ground your work in how a specific repository actually does things, and to keep its docs current as you change the code.

Connect

  • Transport: streamable-HTTP MCP
  • Endpoint: https://moxiedocs.com/api/mcp
  • Protocol version: 2025-06-18
  • Auth: send Authorization: Bearer <token>. Create a token in the Moxie Docs dashboard (Settings → MCP); each token is scoped to a workspace.
  • Repository selection: tools accept an optional repository argument (owner/name, e.g. acme/app). It is required only when a token is authorized for multiple repositories and no default is set.

Human documentation: https://moxiedocs.com/mcp

Before you edit code

Read context first so your change matches the repository's conventions and so any docs work lands in the same PR:

  1. moxie.get_ai_context - compact briefing: repo status, commands, conventions, doc gaps, and team notes. Read this first.
  2. moxie.get_doc_impact - pass the file paths you are about to change (changedPaths); returns the conventions, doc gaps, and existing docs whose evidence overlaps those paths. List deletions in deletedPaths to surface docs that should be removed.
  3. moxie.get_conventions / moxie.search_docs - look up specific conventions or search the generated docs for a topic.

Keep docs in sync

When your change adds, alters, or obsoletes behavior that the docs describe:

  • moxie.propose_doc_update - supply a title and the Markdown content; Moxie resolves the target path and returns the path + Markdown for you to write into your working branch.
  • moxie.propose_doc_removal - name a Moxie-tracked doc your change makes irrelevant; Moxie validates the path and returns it for you to delete.

Moxie records the proposal and hands the file back to you - it does not open a separate PR. Write the returned files into your branch so the docs ship in the same PR as the code.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
