microsoft-cloud

microsoft-cloud is a skill for Claude Code from JackInSightsV2/Azure-M365-MCP. It costs 141 tokens per session (3,535 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A reference guide for using tools that read and change Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Microsoft's identity service), Azure, and Kubernetes. It lists the relevant Microsoft Graph and Azure command paths and explains sign-in and permission errors.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps inspect or update users, groups, licences, email, calendars, Teams, files, devices, audit logs, Azure resources, and Kubernetes resources.
Why use it?
It reduces mistakes when calling cloud administration tools and helps ensure requests use current tool results rather than memory.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00141 $0.03535
Opus 5.5 $0.00056 $0.01414
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00028 $0.00707
Haiku 4.5 $0.00014 $0.00353

Security

Grade A, and why

microsoft-cloud scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 22d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 136 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Microsoft cloud tools reference

Answer from the tools, not from memory. If a tool asks for sign-in (browser window or device code), run the setup skill's sign-in step. If Graph returns 403, relay its suggestion about the missing permission. If it reports a Tenant policy refusal, relay the message and stop.

Which tool

Need Tool Input
Read Microsoft 365 / Entra ID microsoft365_read command: Graph v1.0 path (no https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/ prefix). GET only
Change Microsoft 365 / Entra ID microsoft365_write command, method (POST/PUT/PATCH/DELETE), data (JSON body)
Read Azure azure_read command: az ... read action (list, show, get, exists, check, find, query, what-if, and list-* / show-* / get-* variants such as list-locations; not get-credentials) or ARM path with api-version (GET, or POST to Resource Graph / Cost Management query / What-if)
Change Azure azure_write command: any other az ..., or ARM path + method + data
Which subscription / resource group an Azure resource is in azure_find_resource name: all or part of the resource name
Connect kubectl to an AKS cluster (once per cluster) kubernetes_connect subscription, resource_group, cluster, optional namespace
Read Kubernetes kubernetes_read command: kubectl get/describe/logs/top/events/...; optional context, namespace
Change Kubernetes kubernetes_write command: any other kubectl ...; optional context, namespace
  • Read tools reject writes and Write tools reject reads; the error names the right tool.
  • The server picks Azure CLI or ARM REST; ARM paths have no https://management.azure.com/ prefix. A CLI command with no REST equivalent can't fall back when the CLI is blocked; retry with an ARM path.
  • Prefer Graph (microsoft365_*) over az ad ... for Entra ID objects.
  • Write tools run after the client asks the user. Say what will change before calling one.
  • Given an Azure resource name but not its subscription or resource group, try azure_find_resource before searching subscriptions. If it says the Resource inventory is off, use the Resource Graph query below instead; mention the setup skill's Resource inventory step only if the user wants faster lookups.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
