workshop-web-researcher

workshop-web-researcher is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from JAICHANGPARK/workshop-harness. It costs 66 tokens per session (1,707 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A research procedure that checks the latest official versions and release tags for software tools and AI models before technical documentation or code is written.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when preparing code, setup guides, or documentation that refers to tools such as Ollama, Docker, SDKs, or AI models.
Why use it?
It reduces the chance of using retired model names, outdated package versions, or old programming interfaces.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00066 $0.01707
Opus 5 $0.00033 $0.00853
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00341
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00171

Security

Grade A, and why

workshop-web-researcher scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Workshop Web Researcher Skill

Purpose

AI model knowledge cutoffs can cause agents to reference obsolete tool versions, retired API model tags, or outdated SDK method signatures. This skill enforces a dynamic verification protocol that queries live web sources before generating any technical documentation or code.

Dynamic Discovery Protocol

Mandatory Verification Before Generation

Before writing any code, README, setup guide, or prompt pack that references software tools or AI models, the agent must:

  1. Query Official Release Sources: Search official GitHub release notes, PyPI, npm, or vendor documentation.
  2. Compare Against Training Data: Check if the agent's internal default matches the latest live release tag.
  3. Apply Verified Versions: Write the verified latest release version in all code imports and setup guides.
  4. Stamp Currency Label: Add a dynamic timestamp label at the top of generated markdown files:
    > Latest tool and model release versions verified on: YYYY-MM-DD

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
