render-resume

render-resume is a skill for Claude Code from jain777/jobclaw-skills. It costs 65 tokens per session (2,860 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A resume-to-PDF renderer that uses RenderCV and the Typst typesetting system, with selectable built-in visual themes and clickable links.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to render a resume from its tailored sidecar data, choose a resume theme, and produce a PDF with real hyperlink annotations.
Why use it?
It turns tailored resume content into a clean PDF while keeping contact links usable and readable by application-screening software.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00065 $0.02860
Opus 5 $0.00032 $0.01430
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00572
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00286

Security

Grade A, and why

render-resume scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 4 executable files (scripts/qa_report.py, scripts/render.py, scripts/to_rendercv.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

render-resume

Typeset a resume into a clean PDF with rendercv (a Typst-based renderer). This skill is format-only — content/region decisions are made upstream by tailor-resume (which applies region conventions); here we just produce the file. rendercv embeds links as real PDF hyperlink annotations, so contact links are clickable and ATS-extractable with no LaTeX workarounds.

0. Preflight — check the dependency FIRST (don't fail mid-render)

Before doing any work, confirm the one install-required dependency is present:

python3 scripts/doctor.py

If it reports rendercv MISSING, tell the user up front — before building anything:

"Rendering a PDF needs rendercv (a one-time install). Want me to set it up now? python3 -m venv skills/render-resume/.venv && skills/render-resume/.venv/bin/pip install \"rendercv[full]\" Or I can produce the resume content + the rendercv .yaml now and you render once it's installed."

Only run the install on the user's go-ahead (it's a real pip install). Do not silently attempt a render that will fail and then ask — surface the dependency and the choice first. If rendercv is present, skip straight to step 1.

1. Get the content

In priority order:

  1. resumes/<slug>.tailor.json sidecar (preferred) — written by tailor-resume. Contains basics_overrides, the tailored content, optional contact_order / contact_hidden, and an optional theme_hint. Merge with profile/master-profile.md for anything not overridden.
  2. resumes/<slug>.json — a hand-authored JSON Resume intermediate.
  3. profile/master-profile.md directly — for a generic, non-job-tailored resume.

Identify the target region (profile region or job region) so paper size matches — see ../../knowledge/regions/.

Never re-derive links by parsing the tailored markdown. The master profile's links: map is the source of truth; the sidecar's contact_order/contact_hidden are the only per-job overrides. Every link in links: (including everything under links.other) survives into the output — see the link mapping in §4.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
