git-workflow is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from jakenuts/agent-skills. It costs 55 tokens per session (961 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A collection of helpers for common Git tasks, where Git is the version-control system used to manage code changes and branches.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create feature branches, preview or remove merged local branches, and perform common interactive rebase tasks.
Why use it?
It reduces repetitive branch-management commands and provides a consistent workflow for feature branches, cleanup, and rebasing.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00055 $0.00961
Opus 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00384
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00192
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00096

Security

Grade A, and why

git-workflow scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2mo ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 3 executable files (scripts/cleanup-merged-branches.sh, scripts/create-feature-branch.sh, scripts/interactive-rebase.sh), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Git Workflow Automation

Automated helpers for common git workflows and branch management tasks.

No Setup Required

This skill uses native git commands and bash scripts - no additional tools or SDKs needed. Works immediately in any environment with git installed.

Quick Start

Create Feature Branch

Create a new feature branch following naming conventions:

# Interactive: prompts for feature name
cd /path/to/repo
bash ~/.claude/skills/git-workflow/scripts/create-feature-branch.sh

# Non-interactive: specify feature name
bash ~/.claude/skills/git-workflow/scripts/create-feature-branch.sh "add-user-auth"
# Creates: feature/add-user-auth

Clean Up Merged Branches

Remove local branches that have been merged to main/master:

cd /path/to/repo

# Preview what would be deleted (dry run)
bash ~/.claude/skills/git-workflow/scripts/cleanup-merged-branches.sh --dry-run

# Actually delete merged branches
bash ~/.claude/skills/git-workflow/scripts/cleanup-merged-branches.sh

# Force cleanup (skip confirmations)
bash ~/.claude/skills/git-workflow/scripts/cleanup-merged-branches.sh --force

Interactive Rebase Helper

Simplified interactive rebase with common options:

cd /path/to/repo

# Rebase last 3 commits
bash ~/.claude/skills/git-workflow/scripts/interactive-rebase.sh 3

# Rebase since a specific commit
bash ~/.claude/skills/git-workflow/scripts/interactive-rebase.sh abc123

# Rebase onto main
bash ~/.claude/skills/git-workflow/scripts/interactive-rebase.sh main

Available Scripts

All scripts are located in the skill's scripts/ directory and can be run with bash.

Script Purpose Usage
create-feature-branch.sh Create feature branches with naming conventions bash script.sh [feature-name]
cleanup-merged-branches.sh Clean up merged branches bash script.sh [--dry-run|--force]
interactive-rebase.sh Interactive rebase helper bash script.sh <commit-count|ref>

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
