ci-cd

ci-cd is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from JakubMikolajek/codex-skills-collection. It costs 69 tokens per session (2,462 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, which are automated workflows that build, test, and deploy code.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to set up GitHub Actions, tests, linting, type checks, coverage checks, Docker image publishing, deployment gates, and secret handling in CI.
Why use it?
It helps replace manual release steps with repeatable checks and safer movement from development to staging and production.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00069 $0.02462
Opus 5 $0.00034 $0.01231
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00492
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00246

Security

Grade A, and why

ci-cd scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

CI/CD Pipelines

This skill provides patterns for building CI/CD pipelines that are fast, reliable, and safe. A good pipeline is the automated enforcement of everything a team agrees must be true before code ships.

When to Use

  • Setting up CI for a new project or repository
  • Adding quality gates (tests, linting, type-check, coverage) to an existing pipeline
  • Designing deployment workflows for staging and production environments
  • Reviewing or debugging a failing pipeline
  • Migrating from manual deployment to automated delivery

When NOT to Use

  • Infrastructure provisioning (Terraform, Pulumi) — use a dedicated IaC skill
  • Application-level health check implementation — use observability
  • Containerization of the application itself — use docker

Core Principles

Pipeline as Code

Every pipeline lives in the repository it builds. No GUI-only configuration. No undocumented manual steps that the pipeline depends on. If the repo is cloned fresh, the pipeline should run from scratch.

Fast Feedback First

Order pipeline stages so the fastest, cheapest failures happen first. A 10-second lint failure should not wait behind a 3-minute build. Structure stages so developers get signal in under 2 minutes for the most common failure modes.

Quality Gates are Blocking

A quality gate that can be bypassed is not a gate — it is a suggestion. Test failures, type errors, and lint violations block merge. Coverage thresholds enforce minimums. Security scans block on high/critical CVEs. No overrides without explicit, audited justification.

Least Privilege in CI

The CI runner has only the permissions it needs for the job it runs. Deployment jobs have deploy permissions. Test jobs have no cloud credentials. Secret exposure is minimized by scope.

CI/CD Process

Use the checklist below and track progress:

CI/CD progress:
- [ ] Step 1: Design pipeline stage order and parallelism
- [ ] Step 2: Implement quality gates
- [ ] Step 3: Configure artifact build and publishing
- [ ] Step 4: Design environment promotion strategy
- [ ] Step 5: Configure secret and credential management
- [ ] Step 6: Add deployment safety mechanisms

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ci-cd is a skill published in the GitHub repository JakubMikolajek/codex-skills-collection (5 stars, last pushed 7d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 69 tokens to every session and 2,462 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
