glia-init

glia-init is a skill for Claude Code from James-Chahwan/repo-graph. It costs 71 tokens per session (974 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A setup tool that builds or refreshes a repository's structural map and can connect that map to coding agents. It also uses repository history for its rankings.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when adding the map to a repository, rebuilding it, refreshing it after code changes, or wiring it into coding agents.
Why use it?
The other code-navigation tools need an up-to-date map; this keeps that map usable after major refactors or branch changes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00071 $0.00974
Opus 5.5 $0.00028 $0.00390
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00195
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00097

Security

Grade A, and why

glia-init scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Set up glia

Build the graph so the other glia skills have something to read, give it the history its rankings use, and wire it into the project's agents.

Transports

Use whichever is available, in this order: the repo-graph MCP tools when loaded (mcp__repo-graph__<tool>, or mcp__plugin_repo-graph_repo-graph__<tool> from the Claude Code plugin; they may be deferred, so search your tool list first); the glia CLI when on PATH; else uvx --from glia-cli glia <command> .. (no install; the first run downloads the wheel); else uvx mcp-repo-graph <verb>. The MCP tools and uvx mcp-repo-graph print the same text; the glia CLI answers the same question with --json rows (file, line, tier). Run any of them at the repo root (. below).

Want MCP tool call glia CLI uvx mcp-repo-graph
Build or rebuild (incremental) refresh glia build . uvx mcp-repo-graph refresh
Clean reparse refresh full=true glia build . --no-incremental uvx mcp-repo-graph refresh --full
History for co-change and calibrated rankings glia history sync ., then glia history calibrate . --json
Keep it fresh the server's file watcher glia install-hooks . or glia watch .

Build or rebuild

  1. The graph builds itself when it is needed: every glia answer builds in memory from the parse cache, and the MCP server builds on its first call. glia build . writes the layout to .glia/graph/ (the directory the MCP server and load_from_gmap read); after a big refactor or a branch switch, run it again. Only changed files re-parse; --no-incremental forces a clean reparse.
  2. Give the rankings history: glia history sync . writes .glia/history-snapshot/ (commits, co-change, redacted messages; --blame adds blame for hotspots). Then glia history calibrate . --json replays past commits to pick each answer's best ranking for this repo and writes .glia/calibration-snapshot/. Rerun both after upgrading glia: a calibration is read only by the build that wrote it.
  3. Keep it fresh: glia install-hooks . adds post-commit, post-merge and post-checkout hooks that rerun glia build ., or glia watch . keeps one build open and prints an update per change (stop it with Ctrl-C).
  4. Confirm it loaded: glia arch . --json (or orient over MCP).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
