Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00076 | $0.01342 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00030 | $0.00537 |
| Sonnet 5.5 | $0.00015 | $0.00268 |

Grade A, and why
stock-research scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 90 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Stock research
Build one reproducible, source-traceable research note on a listed company using the data already synced into the local SQLite database. This is the entry point for broad company questions. It stays deliberately shallow on price action, earnings timing, options, and dividends so the focused skills can go deep without duplicating this report.
Read references/data-policy.md first, then the report template for the output shape.
MCP tools used
search_symbol- resolve a company name or an ambiguous ticker to stored symbolsget_quote- freshness anchor: latest stored bar, currency, dividend summary, key ratios,syncedAtget_profile- sector, industry, business summary, employees, countryget_ratios- valuation and profitability metrics, each with its ownas_ofandsourceget_financials- income statement, balance sheet, cash flow; annual and quarterlyget_news- recent headlines, publishers, and timestamps (context only)sync_stock- only when the symbol is genuinely absent from the database
Workflow
- Resolve the symbol. If the user gave a company name or an uncertain ticker, call
search_symbolwith a fragment and confirm which stored symbol is intended. Do not guess between similarly named instruments. - Anchor the time base. Call
get_quoteand record three separate facts:latestBar.trade_date(the price's as-of date),syncedAt(when the row was last written, which can be newer than the bar), andcurrency. These are different facts - never merge them into a single "data as of" date. Then keep each later dataset's own timestamp as it arrives:get_ratios.asOf, eachget_financialsperiodEnd, and eachget_newspublished_at. A report carries one as-of date per dataset, not one for the whole report. - Establish context. Call
get_profilefor sector, industry, and business summary. Keep the summary to what the field actually says. - Collect the numbers. Call
get_ratios, thenget_financialsforINCOME,BALANCE, andCASHFLOWin bothANNUALandQUARTERLYwhen the user asked for a full report. Annual periods support multi-year comparison; quarterly periods show the recent trajectory. Do not mix the two in a single trend line without labelling it. - Add recent context. Call
get_newswith a small limit. Headlines carry no sentiment score and no causal link to price; use them to describe what has been reported, not why the stock moved. - Route the depth. See Routing below for anything the user asked that belongs to a focused skill.
- Write the report. Follow references/report-template.md. Run its self-check before answering.
What ships with it
2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

stock-research is a skill published in the GitHub repository jamespud/yahoo-stock-mcp (0 stars, last pushed 5d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 76 tokens to every session and 1,342 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-28.
