content-strategy

content-strategy is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from jaredlangleycc/nightshift-os. It costs 121 tokens per session (3,328 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A publishing plan that connects topics, channels, frequency, and business goals. It provides the direction above individual posts, newsletters, and blog articles.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps choose publishing channels, define recurring topics, set a content cadence, and build or revise a content operating system.
Why use it?
It helps avoid posting everywhere without a clear purpose or spending time on channels that do not reach the intended customers.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00121 $0.03328
Opus 5 $0.00060 $0.01664
Sonnet 5 $0.00024 $0.00666
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00333

Measured 5d ago against content hash e78772698a02, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-05, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

content-strategy scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 313 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Content Strategy

The operating layer above social-content, newsletter-broadcast, and blog production. It decides what the user publishes, where, how often, and why. Without it, content becomes a treadmill of one-off posts that don't ladder up to revenue.

Most solopreneurs over-publish in too many places and under-publish in the one channel that converts. This skill cuts that.

When this skill triggers

  • "What should I post this week"
  • "Build my content calendar"
  • "I'm posting everywhere and nothing's working"
  • "What channels should I be on"
  • "Help me think through content"
  • "Pick 3 topics to cover this month"
  • "I have 10 hours a week for content, where do I spend them"

NOT for: writing a single post (use social-content), drafting a newsletter (use newsletter-broadcast), writing page copy (use copywriting), or scheduling individual sends (use marketing-ops if it exists).

The 4-step strategy build

Run coach-mode first. Don't hand the user a calendar before answering the diagnostic questions. A calendar without a thesis is a treadmill.

Step 1: Where does the ICP actually spend time?

Ask one question at a time. Wait for the answer.

  • "Name one client you'd want 10 more of. Who are they specifically?"
  • "Where does that person consume content during their work day?"
  • "When that person is stuck on the problem you solve, what do they search, ask, or scroll?"
  • "Who else do they already follow on the channels they use?"

The goal is one or two anchor channels where the ICP actually lives. Not a list of "everywhere we could be."

Common reality checks:

  • B2B SaaS managers live on LinkedIn (personal feed and DMs, not company pages).
  • Real estate solopreneurs live on Instagram and local Facebook groups.
  • Indie devs live on X, Hacker News, and dev Discord.
  • Parents with side businesses live on Threads, Instagram Reels, and TikTok.
  • Enterprise buyers consume long-form via newsletters and conferences. They are not on TikTok.

If the user names a channel they personally enjoy but the ICP doesn't use, push back. The channel is for the buyer, not for the founder's preference.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
