pricing-strategy

pricing-strategy is a skill for Claude Code from jaredlangleycc/nightshift-os. It costs 165 tokens per session (5,196 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guided approach to setting prices using market information, customer willingness to pay, business costs, and the seller's risk tolerance.

In plain words
What is it for?
Choosing prices, designing tiers, testing price changes, handling discounts, and reviewing whether an offer is underpriced.
Why use it?
It replaces guesswork and fear-based pricing with factors that show whether an offer is affordable for customers and sustainable for the business.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00165 $0.05196
Opus 5 $0.00082 $0.02598
Sonnet 5 $0.00033 $0.01039
Haiku 4.5 $0.00016 $0.00520

Security

Grade A, and why

pricing-strategy scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Pricing Strategy

The skill that turns "I charge $X because that feels right" into a price grounded in market research, willingness to pay, unit economics, and the user's risk profile. Pricing is operational: it decides who buys, how much they pay, and whether the seller stays solvent.

Pricing is also the most common founder anxiety. Most solo founders are underpriced by 30-60% because they price from fear instead of from data. This skill closes that gap.

When this skill triggers

Direct invocations:

  • "Should I raise prices"
  • "What should I charge"
  • "Price test"
  • "Tier design"
  • "Money-back guarantee"
  • "How much should this cost"
  • "Am I underpriced"
  • "Premium pricing"
  • "My prices feel low"
  • "I am getting too many price objections"
  • "Is my pricing scaring buyers away"
  • "Should I offer a discount"
  • "How do I price a new tier"

Automatic invocations:

  • After offer-design locks the offer container and price is the next decision
  • After icp-discovery reveals willingness-to-pay data from interviews
  • Quarterly review trigger (every 90 days, validate current pricing against market)

NOT for: designing the offer container (use offer-design first). NOT for: building the pricing page (use copywriting after price locks). NOT for: writing the proposal (use proposal-writer after price locks).

Stage gate: when NOT to run pricing-strategy

Pricing-strategy is gated. Pre-Rev Builders should NOT run this skill until:

  1. The offer container is locked via offer-design
  2. The ICP is defined via icp-discovery
  3. The positioning is locked via positioning

Without those three, pricing decisions are guesses. Pricing optimizes a price within an offer for an ICP positioned against an alternative. If any of the inputs are missing, the price decision is premature.

If the user invokes pricing-strategy without those three locked, route them:

"Pricing decisions need an offer, ICP, and positioning to anchor against. Run /offer-design (the container), /icp-discovery (the buyer), and /positioning (the differentiator) first. Then I can help you price."

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
