Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00122 $0.00808
Opus 5 $0.00061 $0.00404
Sonnet 5 $0.00024 $0.00162
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00081

Security

Grade A, and why

rocket-attention scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 40 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

rocket-attention

Answer "what needs MY attention right now" — the product's core job. Fast, prioritized, honest about freshness.

Transport

  • If the rocket-cli MCP server is connected, prefer its tools (get_attention, get_unread, get_mentions, get_message_context).
  • Otherwise shell out: rocket-cli attention --json, rocket-cli unread --json, rocket-cli mentions --json.
  • Multi-server: pass --profile <name> to the CLI, or rely on ROCKET_CLI_PROFILE in the MCP env block. Never guess a profile — if the user has several, ask which server.

Workflow

  1. Pick the right tool for the ask.
    • Broad ("what did I miss?", "catch me up", "anything important?") → get_attention. One call returns all four sections, prioritized and deduplicated.
    • Narrow → use the focused tool: "any mentions?" → get_mentions; "unread DMs / what's unread?" → get_unread.
  2. Call it once. get_attention params: sinceDays (1-90, default 7, how far the mention search looks back), limitPerSection (1-100, default 30), includeChannelWide (default false — set true only if the user cares about @all/@here). Do not widen sinceDays unless the user implies a longer window.
  3. Honor refreshing. If the envelope carries refreshing: true, the data was served from cache while a background sync runs and may be seconds stale. Say so briefly if exactness matters ("counts may be a beat behind"); for a casual triage glance just present it.
  4. Present priority-ordered, in this sequence:
    1. Mentions of the user (most urgent)
    2. Unread DMs
    3. Unread thread replies
    4. Unread channel messages Within each section, group by room. Each item: who, a one-line gist, and its permalink (always included — this is the URL-loop contract). Rooms flagged hiddenMentioned=true (hide-unread-counter on but user is mentioned) still belong in the mentions section.
  5. Offer per-item follow-ups, do not auto-execute:
    • "want the surrounding context?" → get_message_context on that message id.
    • "want to reply?" → hand off to the rocket-send workflow.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

rocket-attention is a skill published in the GitHub repository jeanfbrito/rocket-cli (2 stars, last pushed 16d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 122 tokens to every session and 808 once invoked, about $0.0006 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
