resolve-mcp: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/prep-timeline/SKILL.md

prep-timeline is a skill for Claude Code from jenkinsm13/resolve-mcp. It costs 42 tokens per session (506 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A DaVinci Resolve timeline setup helper. A timeline is the editing workspace where video, sound, graphics, and voiceover are arranged in sequence.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create a new timeline with separate tracks for main footage, cutaways, graphics, dialogue, sound effects, music, and voiceover, with optional frame-rate and resolution settings.
Why use it?
It removes the repetitive work of creating tracks and naming them before editing begins.

This is jenkinsm13/resolve-mcp's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on resolve-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything resolve-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00042 $0.00506
Opus 5 $0.00021 $0.00253
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00101
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00051

Security

Grade A, and why

prep-timeline scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

/prep-timeline — Set Up a New Timeline

Create a timeline with a professional track layout in one command.

Arguments

User provides: timeline name, and optionally frame rate and resolution.

Defaults: use current project settings for fps and resolution.

Standard Track Layout

Track Type Name Purpose
V1 video A-Roll Primary footage, interviews, talking heads
V2 video B-Roll Cutaways, supplementary footage
V3 video GFX Graphics, titles, lower thirds, overlays
A1 audio Dialogue Synced dialogue from A-roll
A2 audio SFX Sound effects, foley, ambience
A3 audio Music Background music, score
A4 audio VO Voiceover, narration

Workflow

  1. Use resolve_create_empty_timeline with the given name
  2. The timeline starts with V1 and A1 by default
  3. Use resolve_add_track to add:
    • V2 (video), V3 (video)
    • A2 (audio), A3 (audio), A4 (audio)
  4. Use resolve_set_track_name to name each track:
    • V1 → "A-Roll", V2 → "B-Roll", V3 → "GFX"
    • A1 → "Dialogue", A2 → "SFX", A3 → "Music", A4 → "VO"
  5. If the user specified custom settings (fps, resolution), apply them with resolve_set_timeline_setting
  6. Confirm: "Timeline '[name]' ready — 3 video tracks, 4 audio tracks"

Example Interactions

User: /prep-timeline "Summer Campaign" → Create timeline with default project settings, apply standard track layout.

User: /prep-timeline "Instagram Reel" 30fps → Create timeline at 30fps with standard tracks.

User: /prep-timeline "Doc v1" 24fps 4k → Create 24fps 4K timeline with standard tracks.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
