paper-signal-audit

paper-signal-audit is a skill for Codex from jiahuiqu17/paper-signal. It costs 115 tokens per session (701 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A review process for posters, edited photos, editorial images, and social cards made with a paper-print visual style. It checks the finished image for accurate subjects and text, believable materials, composition, colour, and consistency across a series.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect individual images or a series, verify protected subject details and factual text, assess print and paper effects, check thumbnail readability, and identify a correction path for failed images.
Why use it?
It catches mistakes that may be hidden by the original prompt, such as altered faces, incorrect wording, weak paper texture, artificial-looking details, or layouts that do not fit their platform.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00115 $0.00701
Opus 5 $0.00057 $0.00351
Sonnet 5 $0.00023 $0.00140
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00070

Security

Grade A, and why

paper-signal-audit scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 73 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Paper Signal Audit

Judge the image that exists, not the prompt that intended it.

Load the audit basis

Read from ../paper-signal/:

  1. references/subject-routing.md
  2. references/visual-language.md
  3. references/quality-contract.md
  4. references/restyle-contract.md for edits

Read the project prompt, manifest, preservation record, outline, and evidence ledger when available.

Audit workflow

  1. Inspect every local image with view_image at original detail.
  2. Identify the delivery route, subject route, and intended composition mode from artifacts; infer them explicitly when artifacts are missing.
  3. Compare the raster against protected subject details, exact text, factual claims, and requested aspect ratio.
  4. Inspect at full size for identity, geometry, paper, image integration, type, print defects, and AI artifacts.
  5. Inspect at thumbnail size for subject recognition, chromatic signal, hierarchy, and series recognition.
  6. For a series, compare the whole sequence for material continuity, composition variety, pacing, and cloned-layout drift.
  7. Rank findings by severity and give one correction path per failed image.

Report format

Lead with the verdict:

  • Pass — ready to use
  • Pass with refinements — usable; small craft changes would improve it
  • Regenerate — one or more blocking failures

Then report only observed issues:

Severity Image Observation Why it matters Targeted correction

Separate:

  • blocking: subject drift, false/wrong text, wrong ratio, unreadable essential content, missing output
  • major: generic template composition, weak subject scale, incoherent print process, pseudo-language, muddy hierarchy
  • minor: slightly weak signal, texture repetition, edge or safe-zone refinement

Do not praise or criticise with unsupported adjectives. Point to visible evidence.

Anti-AI diagnosis

Check specifically for:

  • meaningless microtext or faux Asian characters
  • generic birds, moons, stairs, doors, flowers, and registration marks unrelated to content
  • uniformly applied vintage noise
  • beige template plus clean modern typography
  • perfect vector spacing under fake paper texture
  • waxy faces, altered identity, impossible hands, warped buildings, or invented product details
  • random collage fragments with no visual thesis
  • empty space that creates no direction or tension

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
