descriptions

descriptions is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from jl-cmd/claude-dev-env. It costs 32 tokens per session (345 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for writing or revising a pull-request description so reviewers and future readers understand the change and its evidence.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to summarize a change, explain its approach, record test results, describe risks, and link related issues or design decisions.
Why use it?
It captures the motivation and important context that may not be clear from source code alone, including verification, risks, and compatibility effects.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00032 $0.00345
Opus 5 $0.00016 $0.00172
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00069
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00034

Measured 4d ago against content hash 3dad3fb9868d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

descriptions scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Pull Request Description Guide

When to Use This Guide

Use this guide to prepare or revise the written context for a pull request. A description explains the change to reviewers and future readers; it records the intent and evidence that source code alone cannot express.

Required Content

Start with a short, specific summary line. Follow it with the information needed to understand the change:

  • The problem, motivation, and affected users or systems.
  • The implemented approach and meaningful design decisions.
  • Verification performed, including test commands and observed results.
  • Risks, migrations, compatibility effects, and rollback or recovery context.
  • Related issues, design records, and scoped follow-up work.

Use durable prose for every essential fact when linked material has restricted access or a limited retention period.

Description Shape

Summarize the delivered change.

Explain the problem and the approach.

Verification: <commands and results>
Risk: <migration, compatibility, or recovery context>

Keep tags short and use them according to the repository's established format.

Reviewing a Description

Compare the description with the changed files and the review findings. Keep the summary, scope, verification, and risk information aligned with the pull request's current contents.

Use reviews for substantive code assessment and pr-small-cl to establish a focused scope.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

descriptions is a skill published in the GitHub repository jl-cmd/claude-dev-env (5 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 32 tokens to every session and 345 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
