meeting-summarizer

meeting-summarizer is a skill for Claude Code from jlaska/obsidian-claude-plugins. It costs 55 tokens per session (2,874 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A meeting-note tool that turns transcript files or Plaud recordings into structured notes and adds them to an Obsidian meeting file. Obsidian is a note-taking app that stores documents in a local folder called a vault.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to summarize VTT, TXT, or SRT transcripts, extract Plaud summaries or transcripts from share links or recording IDs, and save the results in the matching Obsidian meeting file or transcript folder.
Why use it?
It removes the need to replay recordings, summarize meetings manually, and copy notes into the right document. It also keeps notes from different sources clearly labeled.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00055 $0.02874
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.01437
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00575
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00287

Security

Grade A, and why

meeting-summarizer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Meeting Summarizer

Reads a meeting transcript (VTT, TXT, SRT) and optional agenda/prep notes, then generates a structured "## Notes by Claude" summary and injects it into the corresponding Obsidian meeting file.

Also supports extracting Plaud AI summaries and transcripts directly from Plaud share URLs or the official Plaud CLI and injecting them as "## Notes by Plaud".

When to Use

Invoke /meeting-summarizer when you want to:

  • Summarize a recorded meeting from a transcript file
  • Add or refresh AI-generated notes in an existing meeting Obsidian file
  • Replace a ## Notes by Gemini section with ## Notes by Claude
  • Extract a Plaud AI summary from a share URL and inject it as ## Notes by Plaud
  • Save a Plaud transcript to the vault's TRANSCRIPTS/ folder

Workflow

Step 1 — Discover Vault Root

Read Obsidian configuration to find the active vault:

cat ~/Library/Application\ Support/obsidian/obsidian.json

Parse the JSON to find the vault with "open": true. Extract vault_root.

Step 2 — Identify the Meeting File

If invoked with an argument (e.g., /meeting-summarizer 2026-04-09), use it to locate the meeting file:

find "<vault_root>/MEETINGS" -name "<arg>*.md" | head -5

If multiple matches or no argument: use AskUserQuestion to let the user select or provide the meeting file path. Show the matched file and confirm before proceeding.

Step 2.5 — Detect Plaud Source

After identifying the meeting file, check if a Plaud source is available:

  1. Read the meeting frontmatter — check for a plaud: field containing a share URL.
  2. Ask the user: "Do you have a Plaud share URL, recording ID, or webarchive file to import?"
    • If yes → go to Step 3a (Plaud extraction) before Step 3
    • If no → continue to Step 3 (standard transcript workflow)

Step 3a — Extract from Plaud (if Plaud source provided)

Three methods, in priority order:

Method A — Official Plaud CLI (preferred when authenticated)

Check if the CLI is available and authenticated:

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
