component-spacing

component-spacing is a skill for Claude Code from joao-aires/agent-skills-public. It costs 16 tokens per session (250 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for adjusting the spacing inside an existing user-interface component while keeping its established design system. It covers padding, gaps, grouping, alignment, narrow layouts, and visible keyboard focus.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to tune spacing around related controls and content, then check the component with real content and nearby elements.
Why use it?
It prevents a spacing change from disrupting the component's visual grouping, responsive layout, or accessibility.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00016 $0.00250
Opus 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00100
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00003 $0.00050
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00025

Security

Grade A, and why

component-spacing scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Adjust spacing in context

Inspect the component with its actual content and the adjacent elements it must align with. Identify which elements form a group and which gaps separate groups. Use the existing spacing roles and comparable components to choose those gaps: related elements should read as a unit, while separate groups should remain distinguishable. Keep shared edges aligned with the surrounding layout.

Adjust the relevant padding or gaps using the accepted spacing system. Preserve accepted type, color and interaction behavior. A spacing request does not authorize a component-library migration.

Render the affected component in context and at its relevant narrow layout. Check whether grouping and alignment remain clear with long labels and content growth, and whether keyboard focus remains visible without clipping or overlap. If a gap works only for the current short content, revisit the spacing in that context before reporting success.

Report the spacing adjusted, why it fits the component's grouping and alignment, and the layouts and content states actually checked. If rendering is unavailable, describe the proposed change and explicitly leave visual verification outstanding. Distinguish any applied edit from a proposal and any unchecked state from a verified result.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

component-spacing is a skill published in the GitHub repository joao-aires/agent-skills-public (2 stars, last pushed 8d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 16 tokens to every session and 250 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-26.
