git-contributions

git-contributions is a skill for Claude Code from joao-aires/agent-skills-public. It costs 58 tokens per session (729 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Git contribution guide for developing a feature in a separate worktree, making consistent commits, and preparing a pull request. Git is a tool for tracking changes, and a worktree is an additional working copy of a repository.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when starting or continuing feature work, committing changes, or publishing a pull request while preserving local changes and project conventions.
Why use it?
It keeps unrelated edits out of feature work and helps changes target the correct repository, branch, and contribution process.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00058 $0.00729
Opus 5.5 $0.00023 $0.00292
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00146
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00073

Security

Grade A, and why

git-contributions scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 52 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Read workflow framing for scope and invocation boundaries.

Make reviewable contributions

Make the contribution easy to inspect and reproduce. Keep the objective's implementation, tests and documentation together in its worktree, and preserve unrelated work. Before publishing, check that the branch contains the intended change against the intended base and that the description explains the result to someone who has not read the conversation.

Establish the target and workspace

  1. Inspect the intended repository, contribution instructions, status, remotes, base and worktrees before writes. Resolve ambiguity that changes the target; preserve unrelated edits.
  2. Establish one named feature worktree for the objective, fetching the intended base when available. Reuse it for implementation, tests, docs and follow-up fixes; initialize an empty repository only when needed to enable isolation.
  3. Verify that actual edit/test paths are inside the objective worktree, keeping the base checkout untouched.

Parallel execution, when supported and authorized, uses the objective integration branch and coordinated worktrees. If isolation is unavailable, disclose the limitation and use an agreed alternative without claiming isolation exists.

Verify and commit

  1. Use documented quality commands and the existing hook runner; project conventions owns tool setup. Verify hooks in this worktree, preserving hooksPath and partial staging.
  2. Inspect formatter edits, stage intended changes, redact scan output and resolve relevant failures. Inspect the staged diff for accidental files and secrets; retain unrelated work.
  3. When the contribution flow includes committing, make coherent Conventional Commits: type(scope): concise subject, with an optional repository-supported scope. Mark actual breaking changes and put a supplied issue reference in the repository's preferred location; otherwise omit it.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
