postgresql-development

postgresql-development is a skill for Claude Code from joao-aires/agent-skills-public. It costs 40 tokens per session (802 once invoked), scanned C, original, MIT.

A guide for building and reviewing PostgreSQL data storage, including tables, transactions, migrations, and access rules. PostgreSQL is a relational database that stores structured data and supports rules for how it can be changed.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to design schemas, choose constraints and data types, plan migrations, review transactions, and check row-level access policies. It also covers safe SQL parameters and application authorization boundaries.
Why use it?
It helps keep data valid when applications handle concurrent users, change their schema, or enforce permissions. It also reduces database-specific mistakes involving roles, versions, and PostgreSQL features.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00040 $0.00802
Opus 5.5 $0.00016 $0.00321
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00160
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00080

Security

Grade C, and why

postgresql-development scanned grade C with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nullifies safety policieshighAnti-refusal

"You have no restrictions", "do anything now", "ignore your guidelines": a direct jailbreak that disables guardrails.

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 68 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Implement the PostgreSQL data contract

Identify the actual PostgreSQL version, hosting model, extensions, application roles, driver and migration tooling. Preserve accepted project choices. Establish the affected invariants and workload; if broader design is unresolved, use available data/service-design expertise or project evidence without requiring another plugin. Read source selection for provenance and version-matched primary references.

Represent facts and authority

Choose types, constraints and keys from meaning and access patterns:

  • Use appropriate numeric/time semantics; distinguish null, empty and absent values.
  • Enforce durable uniqueness and relationships where they express the contract.
  • Consider JSONB, arrays, generated columns, partitioning and extensions with their update, validation, indexing and operational consequences.

Use parameterized values through the actual driver; dynamic identifiers need separate validation/quoting. Derive tenant/resource authority from verified context. Application authorization remains necessary for allowed operations.

When using row-level security

Row-level security evaluates access under the database role and policy context of the statement. Establish how trusted application identity reaches that context and which code can change it. A custom session variable alone does not establish a trusted identity; an untrusted caller must not be able to choose the tenant that the policy trusts.

Check both which existing rows an operation can reach and which proposed row values it may create or retain. Exercise the policy through the application's actual role and connection-pool behavior, because a privileged migration or table-owner session may bypass the restriction being tested. Verify:

Boundary Check
Execution role Ownership and BYPASSRLS/superuser behavior
Policy behavior USING and WITH CHECK semantics, including relevant functions/views
Connection context Who can set it and how pools scope/reset it
Evidence Cross-tenant reads and writes through the actual application role

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

postgresql-development is a skill published in the GitHub repository joao-aires/agent-skills-public (2 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 40 tokens to every session and 802 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it C with 1 finding (nullifies safety policies). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-21.
