proscenium: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/release/SKILL.md

release is a skill for Claude Code from joelmoss/proscenium. It costs 60 tokens per session (1,898 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A release procedure for publishing a new version of the Proscenium project through GitHub. It sets the version, creates a Git tag, runs the repository's release workflow, and publishes release notes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to prepare a patch, minor, or specified version release, run the release workflow to its approval step, and create GitHub release notes.
Why use it?
It provides a checked sequence for releasing from the repository instead of a developer's computer. It also requires confirmation before changes are pushed or published.

This is joelmoss/proscenium's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on proscenium itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything proscenium configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00060 $0.01898
Opus 5.5 $0.00024 $0.00759
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00380
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00190

Measured 23d ago against content hash 69d0167c5f10, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

release scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 23d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Makes network callslowCapability

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

`curl -s https://rubygems.org/api/v1/versions/proscenium.json` lists `$NEW` for every platform.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 143 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Release Proscenium

Releases run from .github/workflows/release.yml, never from a laptop: rake release aborts on purpose. AGENTS.md's "Releasing" section is the reference; this skill is the order to do it in.

Usage

  • /release - pick the version from the commits since the last tag
  • /release 0.27.0 - release that version
  • /release patch|minor - bump that part

Rules

  • Confirm before each step that leaves this machine: pushing master, pushing the tag, and gh release create. Show what is about to go out. An instruction from the user that names the step ("push master and the tag") is the confirmation.
  • Never force-push, never rake release, never rake push, never approve the release environment. The user approves the publish in GitHub.
  • The repository is public. Nothing published may name a private consumer app, its UI gem or their org. The names are in the user's memory (private-consumer-names); if it is not loaded, read it before step 7. Use AGENTS.md's placeholders (app-a, app-b, app-c, ui-gem).
  • gh needs the sandbox off (dangerouslyDisableSandbox: true). Watch a run with a background Bash loop that prints gh errors, not a Monitor.

Steps

1. Preflight

git status -sb # on master, clean, level with origin/master
git fetch -q --tags origin
PREV=$(git describe --tags --abbrev=0); echo "$PREV"
git log --oneline "$PREV"..HEAD

Stop if the tree is dirty, the branch is not master, or master is behind origin.

2. Dependencies (only when asked, or offered once if the last update is older than the last tag)

Per AGENTS.md's Gotchas: bundle update --all, the same with BUNDLE_GEMFILE for each gemfiles/*.gemfile, and bundle update --all --local in fixtures/adopted (move its pinned Rails to the main lock's first). For Go, GOWORK=off go get -u ./..., then go get go@<current go line> to undo any go line raise, and esbuild-internal's newest tag by date (git tag --sort=-creatordate in ../esbuild-internal). Run every lane (step 5's list), then commit as build: ....

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

release is a skill published in the GitHub repository joelmoss/proscenium (104 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 60 tokens to every session and 1,898 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-14.
