interrogate

interrogate is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from jon-devlapaz/tink-skills. It costs 108 tokens per session (3,092 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An investigation workflow that turns an informal idea, plan, or technical decision into a checked draft by separating facts from judgments and asking targeted questions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to examine plans, designs, architecture choices, brainstorms, and other half-formed proposals before they become formal decisions.
Why use it?
It resolves facts that can be inspected and exposes assumptions that need the user's decision, rather than treating an unfinished idea as settled.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00108 $0.03092
Opus 5.5 $0.00043 $0.01237
Sonnet 5 $0.00022 $0.00618
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00309

Security

Grade A, and why

interrogate scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 231 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Interrogate

Resolve inspectable facts yourself; reserve questions for consequential user judgment. Keep actual answers separate from recommendations. Every claim carries its receipt; every question names its owner.

1. Triage the ask and extract context

  • Open an interview for any input the user wants formalized — a plan, a loose brainstorm, braindump, hunch, or idea. Every input takes the same path: shape a working draft first, then grill it. Ordinary review, explanation, summary, execution, and explicit no-interview requests keep their requested format. Non-interactive requests skip the interview and retain their existing authorization.
  • Before opening the interview, read ledger-transitions.md for decision ledger setup, frontier transitions, and ranking. Maintain that decision ledger throughout; visible questions are a projection of this ledger. Read epistemic-lenses.md only if the session opts into lenses (see Step 3) — otherwise leave it unread.
  • Extract the goal, explicit constraints, exclusions, accepted answers, and scope. Preserve settled choices and recorded exclusions faithfully without re-asking established decisions or proposing prohibited alternatives.

Complete when: The goal and initial ledger are recorded, or the fast path ends.

Shape the working draft

Distill whatever arrived into a working draft before any grill turn: candidate goal, candidate proposed outcome, and candidate options with tradeoffs. Lines the input already settles become ledger nodes (facts to investigate, decisions to grill); anything uncertain, assumed, or missing is labeled PROVISIONAL assumption, never an answer or a claim. Provisional lines need no 📜 and spend no ungrounded budget; they are scaffolding for the user to correct, and a braindump simply yields more of them than a polished plan does. Present the draft in one tight block and ask what to keep, cut, or reshape. Confirmed lines become ledger nodes; rejected lines are dropped, not parked. Only then does the frontier loop start.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

interrogate is a skill published in the GitHub repository jon-devlapaz/tink-skills (15 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 108 tokens to every session and 3,092 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-24.
