macOS Notification Clearer

Clear all notifications from macOS Notification Center using AppleScript automation.

Usage

To clear all notifications, run the bundled AppleScript:

osascript ~/.claude/skills/macos-notification-clearer/scripts/clear_notifications.scpt

How It Works

The script performs the following steps:

1. Check if Notification Center window is already open
2. If not open, click the clock/date area in menu bar to open it
3. Navigate to the notification container within the Notification Center window
4. Click the dismiss button (button 1) of each notification group
5. Attempt to click the main "clear all" button if available

Important Notes

• Accessibility Permission Required: System Events requires accessibility permissions. If the script fails, ensure Terminal/Claude Code has accessibility access in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility.
• Widget Caution: The Notification Center contains both notifications and widgets. The script targets only notification groups within scroll area 1 > group 1 > group 1 to avoid accidentally interacting with widgets.
• macOS Version: Tested on macOS 26 (Tahoe). UI element paths may differ on other versions.

Troubleshooting

If the script doesn't work:

1. Verify accessibility permissions are granted
2. Check if Notification Center UI structure has changed (run entire contents inspection)
3. Manually open Notification Center first, then run the script
