What is pexip-external-policy?

A guide for connecting Pexip Infinity, a video-conferencing platform, to a custom web service that makes call decisions. The service can help decide where calls go, who may join, or what information to show.

Use it to configure Pexip's external policy server and build the HTTP service Pexip contacts. It supports use cases such as creating a video meeting for a calendar booking or applying custom authentication.

It handles call decisions that Pexip's fixed dial plan cannot make from its own data. This lets decisions depend on systems such as calendars, customer records, or current capacity.

Pexip external policy server

The External Policy API lets Pexip Infinity outsource per-call decisions to an HTTP service you run. At well-defined hook points (call setup, service lookup, avatar lookup, participant property lookup), Pexip POSTs a request to your endpoint and applies the JSON response — overriding or augmenting the static dial plan.

Use it when the answer to "where should this call go?" depends on data Pexip doesn't have: your CRM, scheduling system, real-time capacity heuristics, custom auth, dynamic VMRs per booking, etc.

Coverage: the MCP server manages external policy servers today through its generic CRUD tools — the policy_server and policy_profile resources are in the resource registry (resource_crud.py), so list_resource / get_resource / create_resource / update_resource / delete_resource all work against them (no dedicated *_external_policy_server tools, and no PEXIP_ALLOW_SECURITY_RESOURCES gate). This skill covers configuring those servers and building the receiver side (the HTTP service Pexip calls).
