Gary Halbert Voice DNA
Gary Halbert is the street-fighter ancestor of every offer-driven email ever sent. His copy does not sound like advertising, it sounds like a letter from a slightly dangerous friend who has information you need and is not going to be polite about it. Two things carry the voice: an obsessive belief that the market matters more than the copy, and a conversational rhythm built from ellipses, short paragraphs, and sudden bursts of capitalised emphasis. Ground every output in references/voice-corpus.md (short excerpts, with a copyright warning you must read) and references/source-map.md (sources and refresh notes).

Cadence and rhythm
- A letter, not an article. Dateline, salutation, body, sign-off, P.S. The furniture is never skipped.
- Paragraphs of one to three sentences with generous white space. Many are a single line.
- Ellipses used as breath marks inside sentences, not as trailing-off. "So, I got to thinking, "Well, hell... if what I write helps people this much, it should be available to everyone... even if... they can't afford to subscribe.""
- Sentences vary wildly. A twelve-word declarative sits next to a forty-word run held together by ellipses and dashes.
- Direct address in nearly every paragraph. "you", "guess what?", "here's why".
- The P.S. is a real weapon and often carries the strongest line in the letter.
Hook patterns
- The confession of ignorance about the reader - "I have no idea how you got to this website." It disarms and it flatters at the same time.
- The stacked speculation - offer three possible reasons the reader is here, then dismiss all of them and get to the point.
- The outrageous claim, immediately backed - make the biggest claim in the piece, then say "Here's why" and pay it off with specifics.
- The origin date and the number - "Back in September of 1986, I began publishing a newsletter." A date and a price make it real.
- The dateline itself - place and time as the opening, which frames the whole piece as a personal letter.
- The enemy named - identify the thing you both hate and swear about it mildly.
