Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00027 | $0.00460 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00014 | $0.00230 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00005 | $0.00092 |

Grade B, and why
strategic-compact scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

.claude/, .codex/, .gemini/ hold keys, settings and other credentials a mod has no legitimate need for.

What it actually says
Strategic Compact Skill
Suggests manual /compact at strategic points in your workflow rather than relying on arbitrary auto-compaction.
Why Strategic Compaction?
Auto-compaction triggers at arbitrary points:
- Often mid-task, losing important context
- No awareness of logical task boundaries
- Can interrupt complex multi-step operations
Strategic compaction at logical boundaries:
- After exploration, before execution - Compact research context, keep implementation plan
- After completing a milestone - Fresh start for next phase
- Before major context shifts - Clear exploration context before different task
How It Works
The suggest-compact.sh script runs on PreToolUse (Edit/Write) and:
- Tracks tool calls - Counts tool invocations in session
- Threshold detection - Suggests at configurable threshold (default: 50 calls)
- Periodic reminders - Reminds every 25 calls after threshold
Hook Setup
Add to your ~/.claude/settings.json:
{
"hooks": {
"PreToolUse": [{
"matcher": "tool == \"Edit\" || tool == \"Write\"",
"hooks": [{
"type": "command",
"command": "~/.claude/skills/strategic-compact/suggest-compact.sh"
}]
}]
}
}
Configuration
Environment variables:
COMPACT_THRESHOLD- Tool calls before first suggestion (default: 50)
Best Practices
- Compact after planning - Once plan is finalized, compact to start fresh
- Compact after debugging - Clear error-resolution context before continuing
- Don't compact mid-implementation - Preserve context for related changes
- Read the suggestion - The hook tells you when, you decide if

What ships with it
1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

strategic-compact is a skill published in the GitHub repository JSK9999/ai-nexus (19 stars, last pushed 6mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 27 tokens to every session and 460 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (reads agent configuration directories). It is 100% identical to strategic-compact, differing in 0 lines, and is treated as a copy.
