Getting it into your agent
It runs from inside its repository, so the clone comes first — what it calls does not travel with the file alone.

What it costs to keep this loaded
Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00052 | $0.01561 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00026 | $0.00781 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00010 | $0.00312 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00005 | $0.00156 |
Grade A, and why
calibrate scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 157 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
calibrate
Adam's first experience: conversation, then Adam does the setup.
The operator should not need to know git, skills, MCP, packets, or which command to run next. Ask in plain language. Infer the rest. Do the mechanical work yourself.
Goal
-
Produce durable context every later agent reads:
adam/context/user-profile.md adam/context/technical-level.md adam/context/preferences.md adam/context/founder.md adam/context/project.md -
Install host skills if they are missing.
-
Run
setup-adamin the product folder. -
Draft
packet/PACKET.mdfrom the interview (do not ask them to copy a template).
Create adam/context/ if missing. Use templates in ~/adam/adam/context/ as starting shapes.
Voice
One question at a time. Restate each answer in one line; confirm; write the file section.
Never ask them to pick jargon labels (never coded, framework names, hosting vendors) unless they already used those words. Never paste a bootstrap script for them to run unless a permission gate blocked you.
Interview flow
Founder
- What are you trying to make?
- Who is it for?
- Why does that matter to you?
→ founder.md + project.md one-liner
First version (plain English)
- What would you need to see to call the first version real?
→ project.md current phase idea or planning; this becomes the packet goal + SC-1. Do not say "success criteria."
Have you built software before?
Ask it that way. Map privately; do not read the labels out loud unless they ask:
| They say | Level |
|---|---|
| No / not really | never coded |
| A little / tutorials / one class | beginner |
| Yes, I ship things | intermediate |
| This is my job | professional |
→ technical-level.md (fill the table for agents, not for the user)
How should I talk to you?
- Explain as we go → Teach me
- Think it through with me → Pair with me
- Just go build → Just build it
If Teach me, record teach-while-building as yes by default and say one sentence: "I'll explain each step in plain language before I do it. Tell me to skip that anytime." Do not link docs.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

calibrate is a skill published in the GitHub repository Justinmendezai/The-Adam-Repo (12 stars, last pushed 18d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 52 tokens to every session and 1,561 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
