opensource-and-repo-ops

opensource-and-repo-ops is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from jxoesneon/Ciel. It costs 21 tokens per session (553 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A workflow for preparing repositories for public release and examining the structure of large codebases. A monorepo is a repository that contains multiple projects or packages; this workflow can classify its files and produce reports for reorganizing it.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to sanitize a private project for GitHub, create public-release files, detect embedded libraries, classify repository contents, and audit monorepos.
Why use it?
It helps find secrets, personal data, internal references, unused code, bundled libraries, and release files before publication. This lowers the risk of exposing private material or shipping an unclear repository structure.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00021 $0.00553
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00277
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00111
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00055

Security

Grade A, and why

opensource-and-repo-ops scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

CIEL ADAPTATION: Open-Source & Repo Ops (The Public Layer)

This skill formalizes the "Private-to-Public" transition and structural auditing of massive codebases.

The Open-Source Pipeline

  1. Fork: Strip .git, node_modules, and local configs. Replace internal references with placeholders.
  2. Sanitize (Hard Gate): Scan for secrets (sk-), PII, and internal server names. PROHIBIT release on FAIL.
  3. Package: Generate CLAUDE.md, .env.example, LICENSE, and setup.sh.
  4. Verify: Run a final scan on the staging directory before publishing to GitHub.

Cross-Stack Repo Scanning

  • File Classification: Tag files as Project Code, Third-Party (Vendored), or Build Artifacts.
  • Library Detection: Identify embedded libraries (e.g., FFmpeg, OpenSSL) and their vintage.
  • Verdicts:
    • Core Asset: Keep/Optimize.
    • Extract & Merge: Move to dedicated package managers.
    • Deprecate: Remove unused/dead code.
  • HTML Reports: Produce interactive drill-down reports for monorepo reorganization.

Operational Safety

  • Approval: NEVER push a repo to public GitHub without a final manual review of the SANITIZATION_REPORT.md.
  • Reproducibility: Commit repo-scan results and sanitization configs to the internal audit trail.

Anti-Patterns

  • Blind Push: Pushing a sanitized repo without re-running tests in the new clean environment.
  • Vibe-Cleanup: Deleting files based on name instead of cross-stack scanning results.
  • Internal-Key Leak: Forgetting to update .env.example with generic keys, leaving private URLs intact.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
