runtime_adapter_builder

runtime_adapter_builder is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from jxoesneon/Ciel. It costs 20 tokens per session (320 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A workflow for creating an adapter that lets a system work with a new runtime, such as a new host environment. It researches and probes the runtime, creates the adapter, tests it, and registers it.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to investigate a new runtime, map its capabilities, draft adapter files, run smoke tests, and register the finished adapter.
Why use it?
It turns an unfamiliar runtime into a tested, registered integration through defined steps. Registration is treated as a high-risk change and requires approval.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00020 $0.00320
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00160
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00064
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00032

Measured 5d ago against content hash 46668310ea83, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

runtime_adapter_builder scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

runtime_adapter_builder

Build an adapters/<runtime_id>/ directory + files when Ciel encounters a new host.

Operations

  • rab.research(runtime_id) — deep research; populate capability map.
  • rab.probe(runtime_id) — capability probe against the live runtime.
  • rab.draft(runtime_id) — instantiate templates/adapter.template.md.
  • rab.test(runtime_id) — run canned smoke tests.
  • rab.register(runtime_id) — Council-gated registration.

I/O Contract

io_contract:
  input: { op, runtime_id, "args?" }
  output: { result }
  idempotent: register_only_for_same_version
  side_effects: [fs, network]

Safety

  • Registration is high risk (installs a major new capability). Full Council with elevated thresholds.
  • Drafted adapter sandbox-tested before Council.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
