module-context-refinement

module-context-refinement is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Kaddo-kdd/kaddo. It costs 43 tokens per session (365 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A documentation workflow for refining the context file of one module in a repository split across multiple codebases. It keeps module-specific facts separate from shared product knowledge.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to update a module-context.md file from local code and technical notes while preserving its required metadata and recording open questions.
Why use it?
It reduces duplicated or invented information and makes a module's responsibilities, boundaries, dependencies, interfaces, and unknowns clearer.

Getting it into your agent

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00043 $0.00365
Opus 5.5 $0.00017 $0.00146
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00073
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00036

Security

Grade A, and why

module-context-refinement scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Module Context Refinement Skill

Purpose

Standardize how a multirepo module's context is refined without duplicating global knowledge.

When to use

When refining knowledge/module/module-context.md in a multirepo module repository.

Inputs

The module's module-context.md, local tech knowledge (current-state.md, codebase.md), and — optionally — the core system's context pack.

Output

A refined module-context.md with real, project-specific content in all sections.

Rules

  • Use module responsibility, not full product strategy.
  • Identify boundaries and dependencies from the local code.
  • Keep business/product context in the core/system repository.
  • Document local risks and exposed interfaces.
  • Preserve frontmatter (type, module_id, parent_system).
  • Mark unknowns as open questions.
  • Do not create business.md or product.md in the module.
  • Do not install agents or skills in the module.
  • Do not create Work Items in the module.

Quality checklist

  • Module identity and purpose are clear.
  • Responsibility and boundaries are non-overlapping with other modules.
  • Exposed interfaces are real, not invented.
  • Dependencies and consumers are listed.
  • Local rules are documented.
  • Risks are honest and specific.
  • Open questions are surfaced.

Example output

A module-context.md with all placeholder sections filled in.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

module-context-refinement is a skill published in the GitHub repository Kaddo-kdd/kaddo (54 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 43 tokens to every session and 365 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-25.
