research

research is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from kaeawc/auto-mobile. It costs 38 tokens per session (255 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A structured workflow for researching a topic on the web and producing a dated summary with source links. It separates the topic into research angles and records what each source supports.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps search for primary sources, save source notes, validate URLs, identify what is known or uncertain, and write a source-indexed summary in a research directory.
Why use it?
It makes research easier to review and reduces unsupported claims, broken links, and confusion about which sources support each conclusion.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00038 $0.00255
Opus 5 $0.00019 $0.00128
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00051
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00026

Security

Grade A, and why

research scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

What it actually says

Research

Conduct topic research with explicit citations, saved artifacts, and a final synthesis.

Workflow

  1. Create research/<topic-slug>/sources/.
  2. Ensure research/ is gitignored before saving downloaded source material.
  3. Break the topic into distinct research angles before collecting sources.
  4. For each angle, search broadly, read primary sources, follow references, and save notes as markdown files.
  5. Save each source with title, URL, access date, relevance, and extracted findings.
  6. Validate all cited URLs with lychee or curl.
  7. Write SUMMARY.md covering what is known, what remains unknown, and a source index.

Repo Rules

  • Do not fabricate URLs, citations, or quoted claims.
  • Date-stamp the research because it becomes stale quickly.
  • Keep downloaded material out of version control unless the user explicitly wants it committed.
  • When the task is implementation-adjacent, end with concrete next-step options such as plan, implement, or deeper research.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

research is a skill published in the GitHub repository kaeawc/auto-mobile (45 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 38 tokens to every session and 255 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
